Four volunteer fire departments worked Monday to extinguish a fire in an outbuilding in Bostian Heights.
Firefighters from Bostian Heights, China Grove, Locke and South Salisbury responded to 635 Menius Road around 6 p.m. to find a storage building engulfed in flames. The building stood about 75 feet from the home of Lee Schenck
Within half an hour, firefighters had the fire under control.
Bostian Heights Chief Mike Zimmerman said firefighters believe the fire spread from a wood stove where a fire had been burning earlier in the day. The building was a total loss, though Zimmerman said some of the contents, including fishing equipment, tools, old appliances and mementos, are salvageable.
No one was injured during the incident. The Rescue Squad assisted firefighters.
