Man charged with rape of 12-year-old

Rowan County Sheriff’s Department officials arrested a northern Rowan man on rape charges this morning.

Richard Dwain Myers, 34, 910 Garrick Road, was charged with two counts of first-degree child rape after a 12-year-old girl reported two incidents that she says occurred at Myers’ home.

Myers was placed in Rowan County Detention Center under $25,000 secured bond. Lt. John Sifford said other charges are pending.

The Post is not identifying the alleged victim because she is a minor.
