CONCORD — Alexander “Alex” J. Keller, 78, 3500 Milford Court, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was the stepfather of Steve Sloop of Kannapolis.
Services: 5 p.m. today, Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, with the Rev. Hoke Ritchie officiating. Burial will be private.

‘Eddie’ Owens
GREENSBORO — William Edward ‘Eddie’ Owens, 55, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at Moses Cone Hospital. He was a former resident of Rowan County.
A native of Fredericksburg, Va., Mr. Owens was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Owens and Mary Catherine Sigmon Owens. He attended Boyden High School in Salisbury and graduated from Enloe High School in Raleigh.
Mr. Owens earned an associate degree in merchandising from Kings College in Raleigh. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was a communication specialist with Emery World Wide.
Mr. Owens was a former member of the Elks Club in Raleigh and a former Jaycee in Greensboro. He was a member of the Wolfpack Club, American Legion Post 53 and Emmanual Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include wife Patricia Ann Norris Owens; daughter Tonia Renee Roland, Greensboro; sisters Cindy Bagley of Germany and Rita Owens of California; brothers Ersel Owens and Robert Owens, both of Virginia; stepmother Shirley Owens of Virginia; and two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Emmanuel Wesleyan Church.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. today at Forbis &Dick Funeral Service, North Elm Street.

Banks M. Patterson
CHINA GROVE — Banks Maynard Patterson, 70, 4810 Moose Road, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord after three months of declining health.
Mr. Patterson was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Rowan County, son of the late Cleatus Lee and Kate Ann Wensil Patterson. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he had retired from shipping and distribution at Fieldcrest Cannon. He was a member of the Patterson Brothers Over the Hill Band and Bethel Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include wife Esther Troutman Patterson; daughters Linda Hand, Salisbury, and Shirley Clontz, China Grove; brother Clarence Herman Patterson, China Grove; sisters Sadie Sloan and Mae Foutz, both of China Grove; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Ron Rider and the Rev. Steve Dagenhart. Burial, West Lawn Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, at the funeral home.

CHARLOTTE — The Rev. Charles Wesley Randolph, 81, Methodist Home, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at Presbyterian Hospital.
He had served at many churches in the Western N.C. Conference, including churches in Badin and Albemarle. He was the brother of Ruth Ellen Kernodle of Salisbury.
