CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Wednesday for Bessie Mae Dodson Albright, 67, 4070 Patterson Road, who died Sunday (April 8, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born July 27, 1933, in Greenville, S.C., Mrs. Albright was a daughter of the late Elbert and Gustavia Walker Dodson. She was educated in the Gastonia schools.
Formerly employed in the textile industry, she was a member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, Salisbury.
She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Aland, and daughters, Beverly Aland and Cheryl Freeze.
Survivors include husband Norman Albright; son Clinton Aland; daughters Roseanne Gravette and Sheila Allen, both of Kings Mountain, Brenda McFee, Mars Hill, and Maxine Aland, Garden City Beach, S.C.; 26 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

LAWRENCEVILLE, Va. — Evelyn Duncan Austin, 76, Lawrenceville, sister of Flora Corriher, Spencer, N.C., died Sunday (April 8, 2001) at her home.

Lucetta Meeks Brower
Lucetta Meeks Brower, 97, Salisbury, died Tuesday (April 10, 2001) at the home of her son.

‘A.W.’ Duncan Jr.
The funeral will be Wednesday for Arnold Wesley “A.W.” Duncan Jr., 62, Salisbury, who died Saturday (April 7, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a period of declining health.
Born May 5, 1938, in Davidson County, Mr. Duncan, a son of the late A.W. and Delia Wilson Duncan, was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School. He was a self-employed carpenter.
A stepson, Bill Bowman, died in 1972.
Survivors include wife Shirley Jean Fansler Duncan, whom he married Sept. 16, 1978; son Ricky Duncan, Salisbury; daughter Audrey Duncan, Salisbury; stepdaughter Pat Mathews, Charlotte; brother Hubert Duncan, Douglasville,Ga.; and sister Peggy Anderson, Douglasville, Ga.

Willie Johnson
MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will be Thursday for Willie Johnson, 74, 250 Railroad St., who died Saturday (April 7, 2001) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, after a period of illness.
A native of Macon,Ga., Mr. Johnson had retired from Junker &Sons Feed Mill. He was a member of Christ Temple Church of God in Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary F. Hudson, and a daughter, Janet Johnson.
Survivors include sons William Johnson, Winston-Salem, Dale Johnson, Yadkinville, and Perry Johnson, of the home; daughter Cynthia Redmond, Gastonia; sister Minnie Lee Johnson, Winston-Salem; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Harold Augustus Lentz
CHINA GROVE — Harold Augustus Lentz, 94, Salisbury Lutheran Nursing Home, formerly of China Grove, died Monday (April 9, 2001) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born Sept. 18, 1906, in Rowan County, Mr. Lentz, a son of the late James Jeremiah and Lilly Belle Lentz, was a graduate of the Rowan County schools.
He was the townclerk of China Grove from 1931 to 1973 and worked in the local office of Price Administration during World War II. He was formerly employed by China Grove Hardware, Bank of China Grove and Rowan Building & Loan Association.
A life member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, he served on the church council. He was a former treasurer of the Lutheran Men in Mission and was a former secretary/treasurer of the Sunday school.
He was in the Rotary Club for 58 years and had many years of perfect attendance until 1995. Secretary/treasurer of the club for many years, he served as president in 1963. Recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow award, he was twice selected as Honorable Rotarian of the Year.
His wife, Aileen Spraggins Lentz, died March 4, 1993.
He is survived by cousins.

Born Oct. 8, 1924, in Rowan County, Miss Stirewalt was a daughter of the late George Lee and Lola Belle Eller Stirewalt. She was educated at Fisher School, Crescent School, Faith School and Parks School. She was a homemaker.

Della Vanderford
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Wednesday for Della Broome Vanderford, 87, Transitional Health Services, formerly of 1503 S. Ridge Ave., who died Monday (April 9, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Oct. 17, 1913, in Union County, Mrs. Vanderford was a daughter of the late Harvey Laney and Addie Virginia Starnes Broome. She had retired from Cannon Mills. Plant 1, No. 7 cloth room.
A member of First Presbyterian church, she was active in the Wednesday luncheon at the church. She was also a member of the VFWAuxiliary.
Her husband, Bruce Vanderford, died March 21, 1977.
Survivors include sisters Frances Cunningham and Ida Melton, both of Monroe, Virginia Miller, Concord, and Eva Starnes and Grace Nickelson, both of Kannapolis.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Joseph R. Crawford. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.
