‘Ronnie’ Hurlocker
MOUNT PLEASANT — Ronald W. “Ronnie”
Hurlocker, 57, of Mount Pleasant, died Thursday (April 5, 2001) at NorthEast
Medical Center, Concord.
Born June 6, 1943, in Cabarrus County, Mr.
Hurlocker was the son of the late Will D. and Garrie Hathcock Hurlocker. He
worked for Yellow Freight and had previously worked for Western and Southern
Life Insurance.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jane
Phifer Hurlocker, on Aug. 17, 1999.
Survivors include son Tim Peeler, Mocksville;
daughter Dale Addington, Winston-Salem; sisters Zenita Rowland and Sue Cress,
both of Rockwell; and four grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Friendship United
Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Cranfield and the Rev. A.J. Eure.
Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. today, Gordon Funeral Home
of Mount Pleasant.
Walter J. McLawhorn
ALBEMARLE — Walter Joseph McLawhorn, 77, 627 N.
Eighth St., Albemarle, died Friday (April 6, 2001) at NorthEast Medical Center,
Concord.

Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ben Wilson.

Sadie Barringer Shoe
GOLD HILL — Sadie Barringer Shoe, 92, of Gold
Hill, died Friday (April 6, 2001) at the home of daughter Lynn Miller.
Born June 8, 1908, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Shoe
was the daughter of the late Nellie Hall and James Franklin Barringer. She
attended Cabarrus County schools and retired as a seamstress for Carolina Maid.
She was a member of St. Paul Wesleyan Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry
Leonard Shoe, on Dec. 3, 1997, and two infant sons, William Leonard Shoe and
James Richard Shoe.
Survivors, in addition to daughter Lynn Miller,
include daughter Mary Frances Featherstone, both of Gold Hill; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, St. Paul Wesleyan
Church, conducted by the Rev. G. Roland Smith, pastor, and the Rev. Bryon
Whitley. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. today, Powles Funeral
Home, Rockwell. At other times, the family will be at the home of Lynn Miller.

Jewel Page Stogner, 79, of Salisbury, died Friday
(April 6, 2001) at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation of Rowan.

LEXINGTON — James Clark Thompson, 86, of Giles
Road, Lexington, died Friday (April 6, 2001) at Sunbridge Care and
Rehabilitation for Lexington.
Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Piedmont Funeral Home
chapel, conducted by the Rev. John Deyton. Burial, Reeds United Methodist Church
cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
