Phillip Ralph Hall

MOCKSVILLE — Phillip Ralph Hall, 75, Turrentine Church Road, died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at Kate B. Reynolda Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.

Born Feb. 24, 1925, in Davidson County, Mr. Hall was a son of the late Nona Everhart and Lewis Reid Hall.

He retired from Davie Auto Parts and was a member of the Turrentine Baptist Church.

Hall was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Ketner Hall, who died in 1991.

Survivors include wife Pauline Hellard Hall of Mocksville; sons Lewis and Michael Hall, both of Mocksville; stepson Robert Wagner, Lubbock, Texas; daughter Rebecca Parker, Columbia, S.C.; stepdaughter Judy Beeker, Mocksville; brother Wilson Hall, Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one step-great-grandchild.

Services: 7 p.m. today, Turrentine Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Joe Smith. Body to be cremated.

Visitation: Immediately following the service at the church.

Louise Carney Jackson

CHARLOTTE — Louise Carney Jackson, 85, died Thursday (Sept. 21, 2000) at White Oak Manor.

Born Oct. 4, 1914, in Salisbury, Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of the late Ansel James and Marion Josephine Kelly Carney.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, the order of The Eastern Star and the residence council of White Oak Manor.

Survivors include son Ansel A. Jackson, Charlotte; daughter Marion Howard, Charlotte,; sister Sue Thomas, Salisbury;four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: 12:30 p.m. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service chapel, Charlotte. Burial, Sharon Memorial Park.

Visitation: 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Grace United Methodist Church, 737 E. Woodlawn Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.

 

Roland Watts Morison

Roland Watts Morison, 89, Salisbury died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Rudolph ‘Rudy’ Nassar

Rudolph Joseph “Rudy” Nassar of Salisbury died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Charlotte Brady Overcash

KANNAPOLIS — Charlotte Brady Overcash, 71, 104 Lakewood Drive, died Thursday (Sept. 21, 2000) at her home, after being in declining health for 18 months and seriously ill for one month.

Born May 4, 1929, in Gold Hill, Mrs. Overcash was a daughter of the late Jack and Eva Morgan Brady. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Blackwelder Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband of 54 years Oscar L. Overcash; daughter Kathy O. Daniels, Greer, S.C.; son Oscar L. Overcash Jr., Concord; sister Janet Howell, Gold Hill; brothers Robert Brady, China Grove, Clarence Brady, Gold Hill, and George Brady, Winston Salem; and seven grandchildren.

Services: Sunday at 3 p.m. at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Stan Welch and the Rev. Brian LaFavor. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Lady’s Funeral Home. The remaining time the family will be at the home.

Jesse Waldroup

KANNAPOLIS — Jesse Waldroup, 71, of 8032 Georgia Avenue, died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at Big Elm Nursing Center, after many years of declining health.

Born April 11, 1929, in Macon County, Mr. Waldroup was the manager of the former Plaza Market in Kannapolis for 17 years. He later worked with Hoechst-Celanese in Salisbury until his retirement due to illness in the 1970s. He was a member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge No. 695, Mariam Winslow Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 168, where he served as Worthy Patron and District Deputy Grand Patron. He had been a resident of the area for 50 years.

Survivors include wife Katherine Knight Waldroup; daughter Marie Elaine Wilkinson, China Grove; brother Edward Waldroup, Franklin; sisters Annie Lou Anderson, Franklin, and Tommie Lou Knight, Asheboro; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Whitley’s Funeral Home chapel, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Randy Foster. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park. Masonic graveside rites conducted by Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge No. 695.

Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Bethpage United Methodist Church, 108 Fellowship Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

 

Robert Alfred Wilhoit

ALBEMARLE — Robert Alfred Wilhoit, 57, 432 N. Depot Street, died Friday (Sept. 22, 2000) at his home.

Born Feb. 14, 1943, in Rowan County, Mr. Wilhoit was a son of the late Grady and Irene Hinson Wilhoit.

He retired from Wiscassett Mill and Morgan Motor Company. Wilhoit was a member of Randall United Methodist Church and a member of the Stanly County Rescue Squad for 33 years.

Survivors include wife Juanita Fraley Wilhoit; sons Robert A. Wilhoit Jr. and Rickey Fraley, both of Albemarle, and Buck Fraley of Troy; brothers Tommy Wilhoit and Dowd Wilhoit, both of China Grove, Bill Wilhoit of Albemarle and George Wilhoit of Conway, S.C.; sisters Frances Foster of Belton, S.C., Jean Eudy, Lucille Starnes, Linda Noah and Maxine Cranford, all of Albemarle; one grandchild; and four step-grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Randall United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bob Forward, the Rev. Donnie Trexler and the Rev. Roy Byers. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: Saturday, 6-9 p.m., Stanly Funeral Home.
