Ola Mae Coggins Bass

MOORESVILLE — Ola Mae Coggins Bass, 83, 1195 Mecklenburg Highway, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at her home.

Born April 4, 1917, in IredellCounty, Mrs. Bass was a daughter of the late William S. and Kate Smith Coggins. She retired from Mooresville Mills.

Her husband, Thomas G. “Buck” Bass, died in 1973.

Survivors include son Tommy Bass, Clemson, S.C.; daughter Janice B. Wingate, Mooresville; sister Mozelle Colmus, Annapolis, Md.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services:Memorial, 7 p.m. Thursday, Neill Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Graig Seaford. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials: Hospice of Iredell County, Inc., Mooresville Office, 403 E. Statesville Ave., Moores-ville, NC 28115.

 

Phillip Steve Fesperman

CONCORD — Phillip Steve Fesperman, 61, 388 Cameron Ave. N.E., died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center.

Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, is in charge.

 

Geneva D. Griffith

LEXINGTON — Geneva Dozier Griffith, 90, Carolina House of Lexington, formerly of Fairway Drive, died Monday (Sept. 11, 2000) at Lexington Memorial Hosptial after several years of declining health.

Born May 23, 1910, in Shelby, Mrs. Griffith was a daughter of the late Henry A. and Stella McBrayer Dozier. A homemaker, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Women of the Church. She was also a member of Lexington Woman’s Club.

Survivors include husband Robert W. Griffith; sons Robert W. Griffith Jr., Morehead, and Larry Griffith, Lexington; daughter Gloria Bulluck, Lexington; brother Gene Dozier, Dallas,Texas; sisters Dorothy Akers, Gastonia, and Mildred Walser, Horseshoe; eight grandchildren; ad six great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, First Presbyterian Church, conducted by Dr. Denny Sebesan and the Rev. Steve Lindsley. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of son Larry Griffith, 3742 Beck’s Church Road.

Walter Raymond Harrison

Walter Raymond Harrison, 73, Salisbury, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at his home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Alfred Walker Morrison

ALBEMARLE — Alfred Walker Morrison, 61, 33420 Old Salisbury Road, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at Britthaven of Piedmont.

Born Oct. 20, 1938, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Morrison was a son of the late William Thomas and Sally Ann Burnett Morrison. He retired from Wiscassett Mills card room.

Survivors include brothers Sam Morrison, Charlotte, Jerry Morrison, Lexington, Roy Morrison, Stanfield, and Bob Morrison, Albemarle; and sisters Willie Fox, Concord, and Kathleen Helms, Locust.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Oakwood Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Steve Barbee.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of brother Roy Morrison, 12935 Bethel Church Road, Stanfield.

 

Margaret Florence Whaley

Margaret Florence Whaley, 80, Salisbury, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at her home.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

James N. Wilson

James N. Wilson, 87, Salisbury, died Tuesday (Sept. 12, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.
