George Bishop Albright Jr.
George Bishop Albright Jr., 76, 1037 Emerald St.,
died Thursday (Oct. 19, 2000) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Dec. 6, 1923, in Spencer, Mr. Albright was a
son of the late Fleta Ford and George B. Albright. He received a bachelor’s
degree in pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1944.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr.
Albright was a member of First Baptist Church. He was co-owner and pharmacist at
Salisbury Pharmacy from 1947 until his retirement in 1993.
His wife, Billie Nifong Albright, died Aug. 10,
1995.
Survivors include son George B. Albright III,
Cockeysville, Md.; brother Henry Lee Albright, Metairie, La.; and two
grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Saturday at
Summersett Funeral Home. Burial was at City Memorial Park.

Arthur ‘Art’ H. Kramer
Arthur “Art”H. Kramer, 82, formerly of Flora
Park, Long Island, N.Y., died Friday (Oct. 20, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical
Center after a brief illness.
Born July 15, 1918, in Cleveland, Ohio, Mr.
Kramer was a son of the late Mary Trendle and Joseph Kramer. Educated in the
Cleveland schools, he was employed with Republic Steel Corp. from 1935 to 1975,
starting as a welder and moving up to plant superintendent in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mr. Kramer was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic
Church, where he served as usher for many years. He was also a volunteer with
many organizations, including Meals on Wheels.
He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Shirley Healan Kramer.
Survivors include wife Margaret Stoner Kramer;
son Arthur Kramer, Huntington, N.Y.; daughters Carol Lotten, Seaford, N.Y., and
Susan Van Wickler, Scottsdale, Ariz.; stepson Danny Stoner, Salisbury;
stepdaughter Sabrina Trosper, Cleveland; sister Eleanor Judd, Bedford, Ohio, and
Margaret Wickert, Lynhurst, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Services:Mass of Christian burial, 11 a.m.
Tuesday, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, conducted by the Rev. Tom Clements and
the Rev. Joseph Dinh. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation: Prayer service, 7 p.m. Monday, Lyerly
Funeral Home. The family will receive friends after the prayer service, from
7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Mae Brown Schenck
Mae Brown Schenck, 71, 125 Duke Drive, died
Saturday (Oct. 21, 2000)at her residence after a period of declining health.
Born July 7, 1929, in Rowan County, she was a
daughter of the late John Brown and Bessie Mae Schenck. Educated in the Rowan
County schools, she had retired from the weave room at Linn Corriher Mill. She
was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Earl Robert Schenck, died Oct. 12,
1985.
Survivors include daughters Linda Kay Schenck and
Janet Durham, both of Salisbury, and Joyce Burchette, Rockwell; brothers Boyden
L. and Mike Brown, both of China Grove, Ken Brown, Salisbury, and Charles Brown,
Landis; sisters Barbara Kesler and Francis Duffell, both of Salisbury, and
Billie Kizziah, China Grove; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and
one great-great-grandchild.
Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Ebenezer Lutheran
Church, conducted by the Rev. C.P. Fisher. Burial, church cemetery. The body
will be taken to the church at 2:30.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Linn Honeycutt
Funeral Home, China Grove.

Osby James Watkins
KANNAPOLIS —Osby James Watkins, 79, formerly of
915 Bethpage Road, died Saturday (Oct. 21, 2000)at Big Elm Nursing Center.
Born Feb. 11, 1921, in Lee County, S.C., Mr.
Watkins was a son of the late John and Viola Roberts Watkins. He had retired
from Cannon Mills, Plant 4, No. 1 weave room, after 20 years with the company.
He was a member of Concord Lake Baptist Church.
His wife, Lola Boykin Watkins, died Nov. 6, 1994.
Survivors include son Gary Watkins, China Grove;
daughters Linda Walton, Salisbury, and Margie Cook, Kannapolis; sister Johnnie
Hornsby, Kershaw, S.C.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Monday, Rowan
Memorial Park, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Richard Pethel and the Rev. Earl
Cook.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Whitley’s Funeral
