MOORESVILLE —Edwin Muriel Bowles, 71, Caldwell St., died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 17, 1928, in Mooresville, Mr. Bowles was a son of the late William Haiti and Ruth McCurdy Bowles. He retired as a maintenance mechanic fromBurlington Industries, Moores-ville, after 27 y ears.
He was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Rachel Brown Bowles, whom he married Dec. 17, 1949; children Suzette B. Hobbs, Mooresville, Ricky Bowles, Denver, and Diane B. Billerman, Cornelius; brothers Buddy and Julian Bowles, both of Mooresville; sister Kay Bowles, Mooresville; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Southside Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. D. Steven Gouge and the Rev. Hal D. Greene. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. —Margaret Jane Boyd Iddings, 78, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000)at her daughter’s home in Louisville.
A former resident of Salisbury, N.C., Mrs. Iddings was a graduate of Boyden High School. She was a member of Lyndon Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters Susan Jordan, Kathleen Spatz and Patricia Painter; son Ray Iddings; brother Fred Daniel Boyd; sister Ann Ward; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services: Memorial, 3 p.m. Thursday, Fern Creek Funeral Home Chapel.The body was cremated.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. —Nora Lee Phillips, 49, 932 N. Wayne St., formerly of Salisbury, N.C., died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 2000) at Oconee Regional Medical Center after two days of illness.

SOUTHMONT — The funeral will be Wednesday for Pete Pickett Jr., 49, 13007 Linwood-Southmont Road, who died Thursday (Oct. 12, 2000)in Forsyth County due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born Nov. 1, 1950, in Denton, Mr. Pickett was a son of Mary Zana Hairston Pickett, Lexington, and the late Pete Pickett. He was a graduate of Central Davidson High School and Davidson County Community College.
Employed by Owens-Illinois, he was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include brother Lonfonza “Buster” Hairston, Winston-Salem; and sisters Mary P. Smith, Kannapolis, Sonja Cross, Wilmington, Del., Maple Caldwell, East Point, Ga., and Charlotte Winston, Lexington.

Edwin Fulford Ryder Jr.
CLEVELAND — Edwin Fulford Ryder Jr., 87, 525 Ridgeland Drive, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000)at Brian Center of Statesville after a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 10, 1913, in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Ryder was a son of the late Edward Fulford and Grace D. Smith Ryder. He retired as a regional manager for St.Paul Insurance Co.
His wife, Marian Evelyn Meyer Ryder, died Nov. 2, 1995, and a son, Edwin F. Ryder III, died March 8, 1983.
Survivors include son Richard T. Ryder, Cleveland; daughters MaryAnn R. Fowler, Manakin-Sabot, Va., Nancy Sue Bellac, Old Lime, Conn., and Jean R. Darrow, Winooski, Vt.; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services: Thursday, St. Johns Cemetery, Long Island, N.Y.

MOORESVILLE — Kenneth Eugene Karriker, 57, of Parker Avenue, died Monday (Oct. 16, 2000) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born July 21, 1943, in Mooresville, Mr. Karriker was a son of the late Jay and Connie Shumake Karriker.
He was formerly employed by Burlington Industries.
Survivors include a brother, Larry S. Karriker, Mooresville; and sisters Margaret Cook, Concord, Nancy Barrett, Gastonia, Pat Hess, China Grove, and Linda Clary, Mount Ulla.
