Gladys Frick Morgan
LEXINGTON — Dorothy Gladys Frick Morgan, 82,
Hillside Drive, died Sunday (Oct. 15, 2000) at Sunbridge Health and
Rehabilitation Center.
Born Feb. 13, 1918, in Stanly County, she was a
daughter of the late Arthur and Ora Howard Frick. A graduate of Salisbury Beauty
College, she owned and operated Magic Corner Beauty Shop. She was a member of
North Lexington Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Golfred Hilbreand
Morgan; a son, Johnny Morgan, Lexington; daughters Joann Alexander, Center,
Texas, and Barbara Brewer, High Point; brothers Sylvester Frick, Richfield, and
Ray Frick, Old Fort; a half sister, Hermenia Ford, Albemarle; nine
grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Davidson Funeral
Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Robert Floyd and the Rev. Dr. Dearl Bunce.
Entombment, Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.

‘Dell’ Speight
KANNAPOLIS— Jasper Ardell “Dell” Speight,
62, 906 Washington Lane, died Sunday (Oct. 15, 2000) at Vencor Hospital,
Greensboro, after four months of illness.
Born Nov. 12, 1937, in Landis, Mr. Speight was
the son of the late Jasper Alexander and Dollie Vaugn Speight. He had retired
after 20 years with the U.S. Navy. Following his retirement from the Navy, he
worked for Pillowtex, Plant 1, towel packaging department, until he retired a
year ago.
Survivors include son Clayton J. Speight, of the
home; sister Vonnie Singh, Salisbury; stepdaughters Donna Helms Rodden, Lake
Norman, and Danni Cooper Sherrill, China Grove; and stepson Phillip Wayne
Funderburk, Kannapolis.
Services: None.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Lady’s Funeral
Home. At other times, the family will be at the home of stepdaughter Mrs.
Michael Sherrill, 1009 Beaten Path, China Grove.

Oney “Tot” Kimball Weaver
CHINA GROVE — Oney “Tot” Kimball Weaver,
101, 155 Kimball Road, died Saturday (Oct. 14, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical
Center, Salisbury.
Born March 5, 1899, in Cabarrus County, she was
the daughter of the late Ida Hileman and William Luther Kimball. She was
educated in the Rowan County schools.
A homemaker, she was a lifelong member of
Lutheran Chapel Church, where she was active in WELCA and the Minnie Patterson
Sunday School Class. She sang in the church choir earlier in her life.
Her husband, Arthur Lee Weaver, died in 1980.
Survivors include a son, Herman Lee Weaver,
Asheboro; daughter Kathleen Weaver Patterson, China Grove; sister Zeola Deal,
China Grove; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Lutheran Chapel
Church, conducted by the Rev. C.P. Fisher. Burial, Greenlawn Cemetery.
