Edward Fisher Blackwelder
KANNAPOLIS — Edward Fisher
Blackwelder, 83, 411 N. Enochville Ave., died Friday (Oct. 6, 2000) at Five Oaks
Nursing Center in Concord.
Born July 9, 1917, in Cabarrus
County, he was the son of the late Lila Viola Cleary and Henry Blackwelder. He
had retired in 1980 from Cannon Mills, Plant 1, No. 5 weave room, after 45 years
with the company.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War
II, he was a member of Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge 626 and Bethpage United
Methodist Church.
A son, William Blackwelder, died
in 1972.
Survivors include wife Edith
Rodgers Blackwelder and stepson Paul H. Brown of Kannapolis.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday,
Whitley’s Funeral Home, led by the Rev. Randy Foster. Burial, Carolina
Memorial Park. Masonic graveside rites by Cannon Masonic Lodge.

Robert Alan Johnson
ALBEMARLE — Robert Alan
Johnson, 53, 24989 Highway 24/27, died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2000) at NorthEast
Medical Center in Concord.
Born April 14, 1947, in Stanly
County, he was the son of Margaret Lee Ponds and Robert Lyman Johnson of
Norwood. Mr. Johnson was a shipping clerk at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he
was stationed in Korea. He also served with the U.S. Army Reserve and the N.C.
National Guard. He attended Kendalls Baptist Church in New London.
Survivors, in addition to his
parents, include wife Teresa Doline Drake Johnson; son Jody Alan Johnson,
Richfield; brothers David and Terry Johnson, both of Norwood; and two
grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Pleasant
Grove Baptist Church, Oakboro, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Martin and the Rev.
Sonny Reeves.
Visitation: 7 to 9 p.m. today,

Sue Trott Parker
NEW LONDON — Sue Trott Parker,
4450 Harper Hearne Road, died Friday (Oct. 6, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital,
Albemarle.
Born in Stanly County, she was
the daughter of the late L. John and Ruth Ivey Trott. Mrs. Parker had retired
from Southern Railway.
A member of the New London United
Methodist Church, she was vice chairman of the Stanly County Republican Party
and a member of the N.C. Republican Hall of Fame. She was Girl Scout leader for
Troop 93.
Survivors include husband Leon
Douglas Parker; daughters Sue Parker McIntyre, New London, and Ruth Arey Parker
Lefko, Christiansburg, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Services: Memorial service, 11
a.m. Monday, New London United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Pat
Jenkins, the Rev. Gervase Hitch and the Rev. Joe McCombs.

William Robert Watkins, 7 days,
died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
Born Sept. 28, 2000, he was the
son of Angela Simmons and William Scott Watkins of Salisbury.
