Junius Sidney Fleming

WOODLEAF — Junius Sidney Fleming, 85, Woodleaf, died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2000)at The Laurels of Salisbury after a year of declining health.

Born Oct. 18, 1914, in Rowan County, Mr. Fleming, a son of the late NathanNeely and Bessie McKinney Fleming, graduated from Woodleaf High School in 1933.

A veteran of the U.S. Army, during World War II he served with Patton’s Third Armored Division. He was wounded in France and received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Fleming was employed with Erwin Mills,Cooleemee. He had also been a dairy farmer and a truck farmer, carrying tomatoes he grew.

He was a member of Unity PresbyterianChurch, Woodleaf, where he was superintendent of Sunday school, taught the men’s Sunday school class, and had served as an elder.

Survivors include wife Pauline Nail Fleming, whom he married Sept. 14, 1939; sons David and Junie Fleming, both of Woodleaf; daughter Patricia Swicegood, Waynesboro; sisters Julia Wood, Graham, Texas, and Elizabeth Wiseman, Salisbury; and five grandchildren.

Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, Unity Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Malcolm Bullock, and a nephew the Rev. Walter Fleming. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury.

Bobbie Jean ‘B.J.’ McKee

Bobbie Jean “B.J.” Robinson McKee, 51, 77 Hill St., died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2000) at her home.

Noble and KelseyFuneral Home is in charge.

 

Lola Mae Christie Stutts

MOORESVILLE — The funeral will be Saturday for Lola Mae Christie Stutts, 87, 490 Stutts Road, who died Wednesday (Oct. 4, 2000) at Genesis ElderCare.

Born Jan. 25, 1913, in Iredell County, Mrs. Stutts was a daughter of the late Robert and Julia Deal Stutts Christie. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, J.D. Stutts, died in 1986 and a son, Donald Stutts, died in 1999.

Survivors include daughter Barbara S. Freeze, Kannapolis; brother William Christie, Dothan, Ala.; sister Marjorie Stanley, Gainesville, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Saturday, Centre Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Howard.Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 2:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday at the church in the Williams Building. At other times the family will be at the home on Stutts Road.

Neill Funeral Home is in charge.

William Robert Watkins

William Robert Watkins, one-week-old son of Scott and Angela Watkins of Salisbury, died Thursday (Oct. 5, 2000)at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.
