Foman Dalrymple

KANNAPOLIS —Foman Dalrymple, 88, formerly of 2306 S. Cannon Blvd., died Monday (Nov. 20, 2000)at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis, where he had lived for the past four years.

Born April 5, 1912, in Chesterfield County, S.C., Mr. Dalrymple was a son of the late James Clayton and Rebecca Jane Sewell Dalrymple. Retired, he was a self-employed building contractor for 35 years and was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church. He was a resident of the area for most of his life.

Mr. Dalrymple was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Gulledge Dalrymple, who died June 30, 1994.

Survivors include daughter Martha D. Whitlock, Morganton; son James William Dalrymple, Leland; and four grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Carolina Memorial Park. Memorial, 2 p.m. Wednesday, Memorial Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Steve Davis and the Rev. Don Davis.

Visitation:The family will receive friends after the service in the church sanctuary.

Mary Frances Albright Lipe

CHINA GROVE — Mary Frances Albright Lipe, 84, 1125 Brown Road, died Monday (Nov. 20, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 9, 1916, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Luther F. and Mackie Lujane Lomax Albright. Educated in Rowan County schools, she retired from Cannon Mills after 42 years of service. She was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee “Jack” Lipe, who died Nov. 21, 1999.

Survivors include son Harry Lee Lipe, China Grove; daughter Phyllis A. Lipe, China Grove; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Mount Moriah Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles MacMurphy, interim pastor. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-7:30 tonight, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.

Lula Dawkins Rives Moore

SPARTA, Ga. — The funeral will be Wednesday for Lula Dawkins Rives Moore, 85, 13 Dogwood Road, Salisbury, N.C., formerly of Sparta, who died Monday (Nov. 20, 2000) in Salisbury.

Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Hancock County, Ga., Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late George S. and Lula Kilpatarick Rives. Ateacher, she attended Tift College and graduated from Georgia State College for Women. She was a member of the Sparta Baptist Church, was active in the D.A.R., was a member of the Round Table and taught at the Sparta High School until her marriage in 1940 to Warren Coleman. Upon his death in 1959, she resumed teaching at the high school and later taught at John Hancock Academy. She moved to St. Simons Island in 1976 with her second husband, Warren Moore, and lived there until 1993 when she moved to Salisbury.

Survivors include Nancy Coleman Holshouser, Salisbury, and Helen Coleman Shean, Atlanta, Ga.; four grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sparta City Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Jerry Bradley.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

 

Wallace Brown Newman

CHARLOTTE — Wallace Brown Newman, 77, died Tuesday (Nov. 14, 2000) at Carolinas Medical Center. He was married to the former Helen Trexler Compton of Salisbury.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 16 at Myers Park United Methodist Church.

Reynold Michael Roig

CHINA GROVE — Reynold Michael Roig, 59, of China Grove, died Friday (Nov. 17, 2000).

Born Dec. 22, 1940, in Miami Beach, Fla, Mr. Roig was a son of the late Reynold and Laura Genevieve Petree. A 1958 graduate from North Miami Senior High School, Mr. Roig was a chef in the restaurant business and of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include son Nelson Reynold Roig, China Grove, and Stephen Gregg Roig, Salisbury; daughter Gerri Suzanne Roig, China Grove; brother Patrick Roig, Vidalia, Ga.; sister Teresa Roig Scarberry, Punta Gorda, Fla., and Bonnie Roig, Gainesville, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

William “Bill” Wilson

The funeral is today for William Denard “Bill”Wilson, 78, formerly of Lantz Ave., who died Friday (Nov. 17, 2000) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation of Salisbury.

Born March 25, 1922, in Haddonfield, N.J., Mr. Wilson was a son of the late Denard and Margaret Jones Wilson. Educated in the Haddonfield, N.J., schools, he attended Temple Fine Arts School. He was a painter and sandblaster before retiring and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his wife, Janet McCanless Wilson, who died Sept. 3, 1983.

Services:Graveside, 10 this morning, U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. Sherri E. Barnes, associate minister, First United Methodist Church.

Visitation: None.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.
