Australia’s top golf manufacturing has started its North American sales operation, which is based in Charlotte.

Paax Golf will be manufacturing clubs in Charlotte at its golf center on 11014 Monroe Rd. Clubs will be sold at the center and through PGA professionals.

“Golf is a very competitive market. The only way to break through is to offer a quality club at a very competitive price,” said Tom Rapone, CEO of Paax USA. “We have all that in the Paax line.”

Paax is initially selling its two most popular models — the Olympus 2000 and the Black Opal — in addition to bags, balls, gloves and other accessories.

Suggested retail for a set of Olympus 2000 irons and woods is $399 for steel shafts and $550 for graphite shafts. The Black Opals are equipped only with steel shafts and retail for $450.

Paax has placed demo sets at courses in the Carolinas that are carrying the clubs, including Warrior Golf Club and Crescent Golf Club in Rowan County.
