Terry Lynne Barnette
CHINA GROVE — Terry Lynne Barnette, 44, 100
First Ave., died Sunday (Nov. 5, 2000) at his home.
BornSept. 15, 1956, in Cabarrus County, Mr.
Barnette was a son of the late Lewis C. and Jenny Mae Frick Barnette. He was
educated in the Rowan County schools.
Survivors include brother Michael Dale Barnette,
China Grove.
Services: None.
Visitation: The family will receive friends at
the home on First Avenue.

James Nathan Cable
GRANITE QUARRY — James Nathan Cable, 83,
Granite Quarry, died Sunday (Nov. 5, 2000)at Genesis ElderCare of Salisbury
after two years of declining health and two weeks of serious illness.
Born Jan. 2, 1917, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Cable
was a graduate of Granite Quarry High School. A World War II veteran of the U.S.
Army, he served with the 909th Signal Co.
He was formerly employed with J.W. HudsonGrocery,
Eller Brothers Stone Hauling and Brown Supply Co., all in Granite Quarry; and
Barger Lingle Co., Faith. He retired in 1982 after 20 years as town manager of
Granite Quarry.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Shiloh
United Methodist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Bill Hoyle, retired
minister of Shiloh Methodist.
Visitation: At the graveside after the service.

Rebecca Schenk-Correll, infant daughter of
Michelle Schenk and Brian Correll of High Point, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000) at
High Point Regional Hospital, High Point.

Patricia ‘Pat’ Brown Davis
The funeral will be Tuesday for Patricia
‘Pat’ Ann Brown Davis, 49, Salisbury, who died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000)at
NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born June 23, 1951, in Rowan County, Mrs. Davis
was a daughter of the late Floyd and Lucy Harwood Brown. Educated in the Rowan
County schools, she was a supervisor at Tri State Hospital Supply Co.
Survivors include husband Thomas “Tom”Davis,
whom she married April 19, 1980; sons Donald Eugene Queen, North Wilkesboro, and
Robert Dale Queen, Salisbury; brothers Buddy Brown, Grover Brown and Floyd Brown
Jr., all of Rockwell; sisters Alma Reid, Collettsville, Bonnie Guiton,
Salisbury, and Mary Earnhardt, Rockwell; and five grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Powles Funeral Home

Floyd Clifford Eller
The funeral will be Tuesday for Floyd
“Shorty”Clifford Eller, 73, Salisbury, who died Friday (Nov. 3, 2000)at his
home.
Born July 5, 1927, in Rowan County, Mr. Eller, a
son of the late John Dawson and Florence Holder Eller, was educated in the Rowan
County schools.
A wrecker driver for Salisbury Chevrolet
dealerships for 40 years, he later worked for the Brad Farrah dealership. He was
a member of Rowan Mills Methodist Church.
His wife, Mildred Williams Eller, died June 27,
1994.
Survivors include daughters Peggy Lentz and Patty
Culp, both of Salisbury; brother Robert Eller, Lexington; four grandchildren;
and six great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 3 p.m. Tuesday, Rowan
Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Mark Loman, pastor, Gold Hill Wesleyan
Church, Gold Hill.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home.

Stephen Roy Everhart, 54, Salisbury, died Sunday
(Nov. 5, 2000)at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Izada Hatley
KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Tuesday for
Izada Hatley, 81, 916 Klondale Ave., who died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000) at
NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after a month of declining health and a week
of serious illness.
Born March 5, 1919, in Oakboro, Mrs. Hatley was a
daughter of the late Dee and Bertha McIntyre Hatley. Retired from Cannon Mills,
she was a member of Concord Lake Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Concord Lake Missionary
Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ralph Hager and the Rev. Bennie Burgess.

James Robert Lineberger
LINWOOD — James Robert “Cranky” Lineberger,
47, 488 Helen Young Drive, died Saturday (Nov. 4, 2000)at his home after a week
of serious illness.
Born Feb. 25, 1953, in Rowan County, Mr.
Lineberger was a son of the late John and Hester Lineberger. A 1971 graduate of
Salisbury High School, Salisbury, he was a former employee of Freightliner,
Cleveland.
He was a member of Hall’s Chapel Primitive
Baptist Church, Salisbury, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include wife Bettie Williams Lineberger;
son James R. Lineberger Jr., Salisbury; stepson Demarcus Williams, of the home;
and stepbrothers Cleveland and James Jimmerson, both of Salisbury, and Arthur
Jimmerson,Capital Heights, Md.

Ray Thomas Melton
EAST SPENCER — Ray Thomas Melton, 66, East
Spencer, died Sunday (Nov. 5, 2000)at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born July 7, 1934, in Rowan County, Mr. Melton
was a son of the late Arthur and Vera Poteat Melton. He was a 1952 graduate of
East Spencer High School and a 1959 graduate of Salisbury Business College. He
had also attended Catawba College.
Retired as owner of a lawn care service, he also
served as a projectionist for many area theaters in the 1950s. A U.S. Navy
veteran of the Korean War, he later served with the U.S. Air Force. He was a
member of Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughter Melody M. Ziegenfuss,
Pennsylvania; brother Larry Steven Melton, East Spencer; half brother Jay
Melton, East Spencer; and two grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday,
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, near Morganton, conducted by the Rev. Sy
Ponds, pastor, Providence Baptist Church.

Kay Frances West
MOCKSVILLE — Kay Frances West, 66, Mocksville,
died Friday (Nov. 3, 2000)at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center,
Winston-Salem, after two months of illness.
A Davie County native, Mrs. West was a 1952
graduate of Central Davie High School. She was a member of Cedar Creek
Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons Joe Warren West and
Gregory Kevin West, both of the home; brothers Daniel Wesley Tatum, Mocksville,
William N. Tatum, Decatur, Ga., Elwood Tatum, Greensboro, and Henry Owens Tatum,
Winston-Salem; sisters Annette Eaton, Geraldine Brown and Jeanette Parks, all of
Mocksville, and Cathy Tatum and Rachel Calise, both of Winston-Salem; and four
grandchildren.

Mary Sechler Beaver
CHINA GROVE — Carl D. Beaver, 84, and his wife,
Mary Kathryn Sechler Beaver, 80, of 1315 Patterson St., died Sunday (Nov. 5,
2000).
Mrs. Beaver died at the family farm on Lentz Road
and Mr. Beaver died later at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
