Edward Biesecker, 59, Lexington, died Monday (May 29, 2000) at Lexington Memorial
Hospital.
Born April 10, 1941, in Davidson County, Mr. Biesecker was
a son of the late Fred Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Tesh Biesecker. He was a self-employed
paint contractor.
Survivors include daughter Beth Biesecker, Lexington; son
John Scott Biesecker, Lexington; sisters Emma Ruth Parker, Greensboro, and Elizabeth
Lib Biesecker, Winston-Salem; and brothers Robert Bob Biesecker,
Lexington, and Fritts Biesecker, Charlotte.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Lexington City
Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Billy Joe Leonard.

James Mack Crowell Jr.
SPENCER The funeral will be Thursday for James Mack
Crowell Jr., 72, Spencer, who died Monday (May 29, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center,
Salisbury.
Born Nov. 3, 1927, in Salisbury, Mr. Crowell was a son of
the late James M. and Eunice Pickler Crowell. He was a 1944 graduate of Spencer High
School and received a bachelor of science degree from Catawba College, Salisbury, in 1948.
Mr. Crowell was employed for 20 years by N.C. Finishing Co.
as senior cost accountant. He was later employed for 23 years by R.W. Normans as a
cost accountant and had worked part-time at Stoudemire Furniture Co. as a salesman during
his retirement.
A lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Spencer, he
served on many committees, including the Pastor Search program and board of trustees. He
was a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and served on the finance committee.
He was a member of the Spencer Board of Adjustments, where
he served over 22 years and was a past chairman. Also affiliated with the International
Management Council, he was named Man of the Year for 1973-74. He received the Spencer
Mayors Appreciation Award for Excellent Service in 1992.
Survivors include wife Harriette Kennedy Crowell, whom he
married in 1948; sons Tyson F. Crowell, Raleigh, and Curtis A. Crowell, Apex; and four
grandchildren.

conducted by the Rev. Franklin Myers. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.

Anna Ross Hutchinson
FAITH Anna Maria Ross Hutchinson, 91, 1006 Fraley
St., died Tuesday (May 30, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after 18
months of declining health and eight days of serious illness.

John Marvin Lipe Jr.
MOORESVILLE John Marvin Lipe Jr., 63, Mecklenburg
Highway, died Monday (May 29, 2000) at his home.
Born Dec. 8, 1936, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Lipe was a son
of the late Marvin and Margaret Miller Lipe. He retired after 28 years as plant manager at
Templon Spinning Mills. He was employed by the Pines at Davidson in the maintenance
department.
He was active as a Scoutmaster in Boy Scout Troop 173 in
Mount Mourne.
A great-granddaughter preceded him in death.
Survivors include wife Connie Newton Lipe, whom he married
Dec. 28, 1956; sons Todd Lipe, Statesville, and Jason Lipe, Troutman; daughter Sandy Lipe,
Mooresville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Vinzant Schneider
MOCKSVILLE The funeral will be Friday for Dorothy
Vinzant Schneider, 69, 171 Edgewood Circle, who died Monday (May 29, 2000) at her home.
Born May 4, 1931, in Greenville, Miss., Mrs. Schneider was
a daughter of the late George W. and Dorothy Cunningham Vinzant. Educated in the
Vicksburg, Miss., schools, she was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethel Lutheran
Church, Augsburg Sunday school class, Christian Fellowship Club and WELCA.
Survivors include husband Kurt W. Schneider, whom she
married July 9, 1957; daughters Carey Schneider Klima, Washington, D.C., and Connie
Schneider, Columbus, Ohio; brothers Bill Vinzant, Kingston, Ark., Buddy Vinzant, Tunica,
Miss., Doug Vinzant, Raymond, Miss., and Tommy Vinzant, Pelham, Ala.; and sister Molly V.

STANFIELD Lizzie Dolena Efird Scott, 74, 18519-B
Dusty Road, died Monday (May 29, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Aug. 26, 1925, in Stanly County, Mrs. Scott was a
daughter of the late Winford Carl and Zora Marylee Huneycutt Efird. She retired from
Wiscassett Mills, where she had been a fixer and a spinner. She was a member of St. Martin
Lutheran Church.
Her husband, Monroe W. Roe Scott, preceded her
in death.
Survivors include daughter Betty Kay Wilson, Stanfield;
brothers Carl and Tony Efird, both of Albemarle, and Ondrie Efird, Stanfield; sisters
Virgie cooper, Thomasville, and Rozena Tucker, Stanfield; and two grandchildren.

Bessie Bridges Seagle
Bessie Mae Bridges Seagle, 95, Salisbury, died Tuesday (May
30, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a month of declining health and four days
of serious illness.
Born Oct. 6, 1904, in Gaston County, Mrs. Seagle was a
daughter of the late Sylvanus Washington and Mamie Elizabeth Huffstelter Bridges. Educated
in the Gaston County schools, she was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Main Street
United Methodist Church.
A son, Richard C. Seagle, died March 27, 2000.
Survivors include husband Thodore Andrew Seagle, whom she
married Aug. 7, 1924; daughter Sue Triece, Charlotte; brother Golden Bridges, Kings
Mountain; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
