84, Rosewood Rest Home, Harmony, formerly of Salisbury, died Sunday (May 28, 2000) at
Iredell Memorial Hospital, Statesville.
Born Aug. 15, 1915, in Iredell County, Mrs. Beverly was a
daughter of the late John Thomas and Mary Knox Faust. She was a retired jewelry store
co-owner and a member of First United Methodist Church, Laurinburg.
On Sept. 21, 1945, she married Edward Dula Beverly, who
died Oct. 17, 1977.
Survivors include sisters, Margaret Rabbitt, Old Bridge,
N.J., and Susan Leckie, Statesville.
Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home
chapel, Statesville,with the Rev. Dale Ellis officiating. Burial, 3 p.m., Hillside
Cemetery, Laurinburg.
Visitation: The family will be at the home of Susan Leckie,
1194 Old Mocksville Rd., Statesville, and will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m.
Wednesday.

William Burney
William Burney, 71, 528 S. Clay Street, died Friday (May
26, 2000) at his residence. He had been seriously ill for three years.
Born on Dec. 26, 1928, in Salisbury, Mr. Burney was the son
of the late Roy and Rosa Lee Jordan Burney.
Educated in public schools in Monticello Ga., he had been
employed at Kern Rubber Company, now known as Voit of Germany.
Mr. Burney was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church and
a member of JC Price American Legion Post #107. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include wife Virginia Nixon Burney-Home; sons
Reuben Burney, Freeport, NY; Jeffery Clawson, Kansas, N.C., and Todd Woodbury, Lexington;
daughter Sandra Russell, Salisbury; brother Roy Burney Jr. of Columbus Ga.; sister Naomi
Burney Pembertson of Washington D.C.; 4 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m., Tuesday at First Baptist Church,
conducted by the Rev. Leamon Brown, National Cemetery at Hefner VA Medical Center.
Military Rites conducted by the Salisbury-Rowan Veterans Council.

Geraldine Rogers Chrisco
CHARLOTTE Geraldine Rogers Chrisco, 80, 5151 Sardis
Road, died Sunday (May 28, 2000) at the Sardis Nursing Home.
Born July 21, 1919, in Stanly County, Mrs. Chrisco was a
daughter of the late Martin Luther and Carrie Moody Rogers.
She was a member of the Badin United Methodist Church,
where she had been active in womens circles. A graduate of Womans College of
Greensboro, she taught business education at Elizabeth City, Carthage, Aquadale, Endy, New
London, North Stanly and retired from Albemarle Senior High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Lendo
Chrisco.
Survived include son Timothy Chrisco, Kinston; daughters
Barbara Walter, Hickory, and Beth Charles Cranford, Charlotte; brothers Dwight M. Rogers,
Birmingham, Ala., and William M. Rogers, Albemarle; sisters Bessie Lee Fitzgerald,
Laurinburg, Virginia Stonestreet, Winston-Salem, Jewel Culp, New London, and Betty Vaughn
Moser, Lincolnton; and four grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Badin United Methodist
Church. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park.

Home, Albemarle.
Pearl Crawford Click
WOODLEAF Pearl Crawford Click, 93, died Sunday (May
28, 2000) at the Spencer Health Care Center, after a one-month period of declining health.
Born June 9, 1906, in Salisbury, Mrs. Click was a daughter
of the late John Samuel and Mary Lee Shoe Crawford.
In her earlier life she was employed at Rabon Bakery and
later was the cafeteria manager at Woodleaf School. She was the acting postmaster at the
Woodleaf Post Office before retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Click was a member of the Woodleaf United Methodist
Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Cleveland
and Coolmeemee Senior Citizens Clubs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orion Michael
Click, who died on Dec. 14, 1984.
Survivors include son Orion Michael Click Jr. of Charlotte;
daughters Louise Rogers and Hilda Ours, both of Denton, and Oma Lee Eagle, Spencer;
brother Vernon Crawford, Salisbury; and sister Louise McLain, Charlotte; 12 grandchildren;
and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodleaf United
Methodist Church. The body will be placed in the church at 2:00. The Rev. Brenda Newman
and the Rev. Shirley Jones will conduct the service. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
Visitation: Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. at Summersett Funeral
Home.

Ruth Southerland Gray
Ruth Southerland Gray, 95, Salisbury, formerly of
Cleveland, died Sunday (May 28, 2000) at Genesis Elder Care of Salisbury. She had been
declining health for one year and seriously ill for one month.
Born Nov. 8, 1904, in Buncombe County, Mrs. Gray was the
daughter of the late Edward Farrier and Lottie Elvira Carpenter Southerland.
She was educated in Catawba County schools and was a
telephone operator before she became a homemaker.
Mrs. Gray was a member of Cleveland Presbyterian Church,
where she served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Women of the Church.
She was also a member of the Home Extension Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Gray,
who died July 20, 1991; a son, Thomas S. Gray, who died April 9, 1979; and daughter, Ruth
Kathleen Gray, who died Nov. 29, 1931.
Survivors include son Col. John Edward Gray, U.S. Army
(retired), Mount Ulla; daughter Betty Wilhelm, Salisbury; and sisters Kathryn Britt,
Margaret Houston and Virginia Conner, all of Salisbury; 14 grandchildren; and 23
great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Cleveland Presbyterian Church,
conducted by the Rev. John Milholland. Burial, family plot, Cleveland City Cemetery.
Visitation 7-8:30 p.m., today, Lyerly Funeral Home. At
other times the family will be at their respective residences.

MOCKSVILLE Anne Nolley Hancock, 60, Gladstone Road,
died Saturday (May 27, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born April 15, 1940, in Davie County, Mrs. Hancock was a
daughter of the late Hulda Taylor and William Roy Nolley. She was a graduate of Kings
Business College, Charlotte.
A member of Liberty United Methodist Church, she was
treasurer of the UMWand a member of the Pastor Parish Staff Relations committee. She was a
volunteer of Cooleemee Historical Association.
Survivors include husband David F. Hancock of the home; son
Mark Hancock, Mocksville; brother Edwin F. Nolley, Sherrills Ford; and one grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Liberty United Methodist
Church, conducted by the Rev. Phillip Park and the Rev. Shelby Harbour. Burial, church
