Catherine ‘Kat’ Briggs
LEXINGTON — Sarah Catherine “Kat” Smith Briggs, 89, 17 Cornelia Drive, died Sunday (May 21, 2000) at Lexington Health Care Center.
Born June 23, 1910, in Davidson County, Mrs. Briggs was a daughter of the late David Hampton and Cora Yarbrough Smith. She had retired from Burlington Industries and as a cafeteria worker with the Lexington City School System.
A member of Beck’s Lutheran Church, she was on the church council and had held offices in the Lutheran Church Women.
She was also a member of Beck’s Home Extension Club and the Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
Her husband, Will Briggs, died May 5, 1966.
Survivors include sisters Mary Briggs, Ellen Wrenn, Annie Bell and Inez Vanderford, all of Lexington.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Beck’s Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. David Huddle. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Piedmont Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Harvey Crenshaw
DENTON — The funeral will be Tuesday for W. Harvey Crenshaw, 79, Bringle Ferry Road, who died Saturday (May 20, 2000) at Lexington Memorial Hospital after six months of illness.
Born March 8, 1921, in Davie County, Mr. Crenshaw was a son of the late William David and Rosa Purdue Crenshaw. He had retired from Lexington Furniture Industries, Henry Link Plant. He was a member of High Rock Baptist Church.
A U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, he was a turret gunner with the 8th Air Force in England and was in the Normandy Invasion.
His first wife, Violet Knibbs, died in July 1969.
Survivors include wife Doris Rogers Bailey Crenshaw; son Clark A. “Boogie”Crenshaw, Lexington; stepsons Roger G. Bailey,Lexington, Garland Bailey, Salisbury, and Russ E. Bailey, Denton; stepdaughter Ava Bailey Shaw, Denton; brothers Clifton D. and James C. Crenshaw, both of Lexington; sisters Rose Graham, Anderson, S.C., and Ruth Smith and Illa Honeycutt, both of Lexington; one grandchild; seven stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, High Rock Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Russell Cooper and Dr. Billy Joe Leonard. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, BriggsFuneral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Bringle Ferry Road.
Harry Young Eller
Harry Young Eller, 92, 3105 Mooresville Road, died Sunday (May 21, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after several months of declining health.
Born May 25, 1907, in Rowan County, Mr. Eller was a son of the late Hilbert and Mattie Bostian Eller. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a machinist for Southern Railway for 40 years.
He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, where he had served on the church council. He was also a member of Fulton Masonic Lodge 99 AF &AM.
His wife, Mildred Brown Eller, died Dec. 22, 1968.
Survivors include daughter Dorothy Eller Beck, Chattanooga, Tenn.; sisters Barbara Jean Corriher and Katherine Wagner, both of Salisbury; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, SalemLutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Clarence Sifford. The body will be placed in the church parlor at 2. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, Summersett Funeral Home.

Clyde Odell Helms
The funeral will be Tuesday for Clyde Odell Helms, 70, Brightmoor Nursing Center, who died Friday (May 19, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 23, 1929, in Rowan County, Mr. Helms was a son of the late Robert and Maggie Honeycutt Helms. He was a farmer.
Survivors include brothers Ernest and Gary Wagner, both of Faith, and Ray WagnerJr., Salisbury; sisters Sandra Dunaway, Gold Hill, and Peggy Graham, Salisbury.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Community Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. J.R. Speech. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Frances Thompson Krider, 88, Trinity Oaks, died Sunday (May 21, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Deborah Wyrick Munn
CAMDEN, S.C. — The funeral is today for Deborah Wyrick Munn, 43, a Rowan County, N.C., native, who died Friday (May 19, 2000).
She was a daughter of Charles Wyrick, Camden, and Elaine Martin and Arnold Kluttz, Cleveland, N.C. Owner of B.D. Auction, she was a member of Wateree Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include daughters Monica McKinnon, Bethune, and Ashlee Munn, Cassatt; son Willis Lee Munn III, Camden; sister Vickie Arledge, Camden; brother Chris Wyrick, Lexington; two grandchildren; and maternal grandmother Edna Martin, Spencer, N.C.
