Marvin Boyden Allman
NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. — Marvin Boyden Allman, 65, North Highlands, formerly of Rowan County, N.C., died Friday (May 12, 2000) at his home.
Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, N.C., is in charge.
John Peter Allred
MOORESVILLE — John Peter Allred, 96, Genesis Elder Care, Mooresville, died Sunday (May 14, 2000) at the nursing center.
Born Nov. 1, 1903, in Richmond County, Mr. Allred was a son of the late John and Fannie Bolton Allred. In 1945, he came to Mooresville as the secretary-treasurer of Mooresville Federal Savings and Loan Association. He later became the president and retired in 1988 as chairman of the board of directors.
A director of the North Carolina Savings and Loan League, he was one of 40 delegates to the International League of Nations, held in Stutgart, Germany. He also served as a director of Mooresville Telephone Co., now Alltel.
Mr. Allred was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, where he was clerk of session for 15 years. He helped form the Men of the Church organization and was their first president. Superintendent of the Sunday school, he was commissioned by the Concord Presbytery to help organize the Men of Concord Presbytery and served as its first president.
While a resident of Laurinburg, he was a member of Laurinburg Presbyterian Church, where he was a deacon, elder and taught the Men’s Bible class. He was commissioned by the Fayetteville Presbytery to help organize the men of that presbytery.
His wife of 68 years, Rachel Harris Allred, died Oct. 4, 1996.
Survivors include brother Raymond Browning Allred, Kershaw, S.C.
Services: Memorial, 11 a.m. Wednesday, First Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. S. Edwin Lewis and the Rev. Dr. Fred A. Coates. Burial will be at Willow Valley Cemetery.
Visitation: In the church parlor after the service.

Viola Brown
CHINA GROVE — Viola Cassidy Brown, 80, Highway 152, died Tuesday (May 16, 2000) at Concord Nursing Center.
Lady’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis, is in charge of arrangements.
Myrtle Owens Dillon
CLEVELAND — Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Myrtle Owens Dillon, 91, Amity Hill Road, who died Monday (May 15, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
Born Dec. 23, 1908, in Rowan County, Mrs. Dillon was a daughter of the late George B. and Roberta Mae Belk Owens. She was educated at Knox School, Cleveland. A homemaker, she assisted her sons’ at Dillon Manufacturing in Mooresville. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a former member of ECW.
Her husband, John Henry Dillon, died May 27, 1990, and a son, John Henry Dillon Jr., died Jan. 9, 1975.
Survivors include sons Keith and Richard Dillon, both of Salisbury; daughters Marjorie Dillon, Sparks, Nev., and Elaine Dillon, Charlotte; sisters Beulah McCoy, Cleveland, Lorene Winecoff, Mooresville, and Florence McCoy, Statesville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Wednesday, Christ Episcopal Church, conducted by the Rev. Harold Elsner. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Summersett Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Amity Hill Road.
Hazel H. Fink
KANNAPOLIS — Hazel Hardy Fink, 73, 500 E. 10th St., died Monday (May 15, 2000).

Elsie Morefield Parrish
MOCKSVILLE — Elsie Viola Morefield Parrish, 83, Church Street Extension, died Monday (May 15, 2000) at Davis Medical Center.
Born July 12, 1916, in Surry County, Mrs. Parrish was a daughter of the late Eugene and Lucy Wall Morefield. A homemaker, she was a Baptist.
Her husband, Robert W. Parrish, preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Billy R. Parrish, Walnut Cove, and Roger W. Parrish, Mocksville; daughters Wanda Parrish Pickeral and Katherine Hursey, both of Mocksville; brother Claude Morefield, Booneville; brother Claude Morefield, Booneville; sisters Ethel Miller and Nonnie Hutchens, both of Booneville; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Rose Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Bill Davis.
Visitation: 7-8 tonight, Davie Funeral Service.
