Charlie Gaither Angell

MOCKSVILLE — Charlie Gaither Angell, 75, Brantley Farm Road, died Thursday (May 4, 2000) at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.

Mabel J. Aull

LANDIS — Mabel J. Aull, 86, 201 W. Rice St., died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at The Laurels of Salisbury.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis, is in charge.

 

Howard ‘Ches’ Biesecker

LEXINGTON — Howard Harrison “Ches” Biesecker, 89, 106 Emlee St., died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Born Nov. 20, 1910, in Davidson County, Mr. Biesecker was a son of the late James Honor and Emma Lee Fritts Biesecker. Retired from Davidson Frozen Foods, he was a member of Christ United Church of Christ.

His wife, Rachel Harmon Biesecker, died in 1986.

Survivors include sisters Nell Weaver and Nora Latham, both of Lexington, and Martha Dry, Murrells Inlet, S.C.; and brother Jim Biesecker, Lexington.

Services: 4 p.m. Friday, Timberlake Chapel, Piedmont Funeral Home. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of niece Jean Gooch, 1540 Hampton St.

Vetra Jane Brown

MOCKSVILLE — Vetra Jane Brown, 93, Mocksville, died Thursday (May 4, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Georgia Williams Daniel

The funeral will be Friday for Georgia Williams Daniel, 52, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (May 2, 2000) at her home after 41

Born July 7, 1947, in Rowan County, Mrs. Daniel was a daughter of the late George Franklin and Mabel Potts Williams. A 1965 graduate of Boyden High School, she had been employed for 341

She was a member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Young Adult Sunday School Class and president of the Lois Miller Circle and the After Five Club. She played softball for Lyerly’s Explosives.

Survivors include husband Meredith K, Daniel, whom she married April 13, 1966; son Frank Daniel, Salisbury; a brother, the Rev. Doug Williams, Beulaville; and two grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Mark Anders, pastor, and her brother, the Rev. Doug Williams. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, Chestnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Rowan Regional Home Health and Hospice, 825-A W. Henderson St., Salisbury, N.C. 28144.

 

Eunice Eller

KANNAPOLIS — Eunice Hurst Eller, 85, 1502 W. A St., died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Robert Gustavson

MOCKSVILLE — Robert Gustavson, 76, Pine Valley Road, Hickory Hill community, died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at Kate Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.

Eaton Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Clay Lenor Hoce

KANNAPOLIS — Clay Lenor Hoce, 77, formerly of 922 Grace Ave., died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at the home of his daughter, Pama Joe Smith, Concord.

Born Dec. 27, 1922, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Hoce was a son of the late Oscar Logan and Pearl Mae Overcash Hoce. He had retired from Norandal Aluminum Co., Salisbury. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

His wife, Earslie Geneva Norris Hoce, died March 16, 1999.

Survivors, in addition to his daughter, include three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Friday, Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. James Masters.

Visitation: 1-2 p.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home.

 

Samuel Edward Kenerly

The funeral will be Friday for Samuel Edward Kenerly, 88, Salisbury, who died Tuesday (May 2, 2000) at the Hefner VAMedical Center after a period of declining health.

Born Oct. 24, 1911, in Davie County, Mr. Kenerly was a son of the late John Edward and Iva Reavis Kenerly. Educated in the Davie County schools, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked for Cone Mills in his earlier years. He later worked at the ABC stores, where he was manager when he retired.

A member of Stallings Memorial Baptist Church, he was a former member of the Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class. He was also a member of Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Post and a life member of Andrew Jackson Masonic Lodge 576 AF&AM, where he had served as Tyler since 1985.

Survivors include wife Mary Holshouser Kenerly, whom he married June 6, 1937; son Ronald Kenerly, Sanford; brothers George, Hendrix and Gilmer Kenerly, all of Salisbury; a grandson; and a great-grandson.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Friday, Rowan Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Mark Anders, pastor, Stallings Memorial Baptist Church. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council. Masonic rites by Andrew Jackson Lodge.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Steven Eldridge Kerr

MOORESVILLE — Steven Eldridge Kerr, 65, 1124 S. Magnolia St., died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Born June 2, 1934, in Rowan County, Mr. Kerr was a son of the late L.D. and Mattie Belk Kerr. He had retired from Burlington Mills.

Survivors include wife Mary Ann McConnell Kerr; sons Gary and Todd Kerr, both of Mooresville; daughter Mrs. Gerald (Stephanie) Baron, Dublin, Calif.; sisters Ruth Horne, Mooresville, Martha Brinson, Columbus, N.C., Elsie Brinson, Charlotte, and Ruby Goodman and Mildred Helms, both of Salisbury; brothers Paul and L.D. Kerr, both of Mooresville, and Grey Kerr, Mount Ulla; and seven grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Fieldstone PresbyterianChurch, conducted by the Rev. Virginia Cowfer. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Neill Funeral Home.

Robah Woodrow Nail

MOORESVILLE — Robah Woodrow Nail, 82, Nail Lane, died Tuesday (May 2, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Born Oct. 27, 1917, in Davie County, Mr. Nail was a son of the late George Thomas and Lela Williams Nail. He had retired in 1977 as a packer at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., Winston-Salem.

He was a member of Cornatzer United Methodist Church, where he served on the board of trustees. He was a former member and treasurer of the Cornatzer-Dulin Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mamie Howard Nail; son James W. Nail, Mocksville; daughters Mrs. Bud (Ann N.)Rich, Mocksville, and Judy N. Howard, Santa Ana, Calif.; brother Walter Nail, Winston-Salem; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Cornatzer United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Doc Warner and the Rev. Jack Luther. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Davie Funeral Service.

James Everette Turner, 60, Salisbury, died Wednesday (May 3, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
