Pearl Brooks Carter, 74, 115 Ridge Ave., died Wednesday (March 29, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital,Charlotte.

Linn-Honeycutt FuneralHome, China Grove, is in charge.

The family will be at the home of daughter Elizabeth Parker, 1125 Double Jay Lane.

 

Tam Nquyen Kerley

STONY POINT — Tam Nquyen Kerley, 64, 1645 York Road, mother of William Steve KerleyJr., Salisbury, died Tuesday (March 28, 2000) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Services: Mass of Christian burial, 11 a.m. Friday, St. Phillips Apostle Catholic Church, Statesville. Burial, Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery, Alexander County.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Chapman Funeral Home.

Inez Carter Neumann

MONROE — Inez Carter Neumann, 69, Monroe, mother of Jenny Ryburn, Salisbury, died Tuesday (March 28, 2000) at Union Regional Medical Center.

Services: Memorial, 3 p.m. Sunday, Church of the Saviour, Indian Trail.

Alice Marie VanAlstine

MOCKSVILLE — Alice Marie VanAlstine, Lakewood Village Road, died Wednesday (March 29, 2000) at Kate B.Reynolds Hospice Home, Winston-Salem.

Eaton Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Edna Brown Wagner

MOORESVILLE —Edna Brown Wagner, 90, Foursquare Road, died Wednesday (March 29, 2000) at her home.

Born Oct. 27, 1909, in Mecklenburg County, Mrs. Wagner was a daughter of the late James Robert and Mary Reid Brown. She worked for more than 40 years in Burlington Mills’ spinning department and later retired from Chemspun Spinning Mills. She was a member of Community Foursquare Church.

She was preceded in death by son Kenneth Edward “Red” Christie and daughter Virginia Catherine Mayhew.

Survivors include son James “Jim”Howard Christie Jr., Norfolk,Va.; brother Vernon “Babe” Brown, Mooresville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Cavin Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Elwood Ammons. Burial, Glenwood Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Bura White Williams

KANNAPOLIS — Bura White Williams, 82, 1005 Little John Trail, died Wednesday (March 29, 2000) at her home.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Marie L. Witt

Marie L. Witt, 80, 917 W. Marsh St., died Wednesday (March 29, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 19, 1919, in Baltimore,Mrs. Witt was a daughter of the late Henry Turner and Survancie Torrence Lipscomb. A homemaker, she graduated from J.C. Price High School and attended Livingstone College.

She was a member of Moore’s Chapel AMEZion Church, where she was a class leader, a former member of the Senior Choir, and a member of the Willing Workers Club and the Suzjette Smith Missionary Society.

Her husband, Homer J. Witt, died in 1984, and a son, Henry E. Witt, died in 1988.

Survivors include sons Homer J. Witt Jr., Upper Marboro, Md., and Gordon Witt, Salisbury; daughters Evelyn W. Phifer, Brenda W. Fleming and Ann W. Knox, all of Salisbury; sister Inez Gilliam, Baltimore; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.
