Bill Collins, 79, Salisbury, died Monday (March 27, 2000) at Rowan Regional
Medical Center.
Born Jan. 9, 1921, in Guilford County, Mr. Collins
was a son of the late Issac and Maggie Fletcher Collins. Educated in the schools of West
Virginia, he had retired from Cartex Mills in 1979 due to ill health.
His wife, Ruth Cook Collins, died Dec. 2, 1995
Survivors include sons Ervin Ray Collins and
William Douglas Towell, both of Salisbury; daughters Darlene Futch, Holden Beach, Frances
Shanks, Greenville, Tenn., and Linda Barber, Salisbury; nine grandchildren; 19
great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, James C. Lyerly
Funeral Chapel, Lyerly Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dale Reynolds. Burial in Rowan
Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, at the funeral home.
At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Linda Barber of Salisbury.

Tadlock Jones, 76, died Monday (March 27, 2000) at her home.
Born May 24, 1923, in Pageland, S.C, she was a
daughter of the late Vernon Preston and Minnie Evans Tadlock.
Her husband, James W. Jones, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include son James W. Jones Jr., Troy;
daughters Brenda F. Hatley, Charlotte, Lynda K. Jones, Kannapolis, and Cynthia M. Jones,
Spartanburg, S.C.; brothers J.D. Tadlock, Mooresville, Gerald Tadlock, Murrells Inlet,
S.C., Frank Tadlock, Landis, and Harold Tadlock, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sisters Eunice
Gibson, Concord, and Carolyn Terry, Albemarle; three grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.
Services: Memorial service, 7 p.m. Thursday, First
Baptist Church of Enochville, conducted by the Rev. Tom Huneycutt.
Visitation: The family will be at the church
following the memorial service

CHINA GROVE Ashley Michelle McLain died at
birth Saturday (March 25, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
The infant was the daughter of Cindy Ann Garmon
and Joe Lee McLain, 1070 Scercy Road.

Born Jan. 5, 1929, in Cherryville, he was a son of
Theodore and Bessie Mae Bridges Seagle of Salisbury. Educated at Boyden High School, he
was a former sales manager for Combined Insurance Co. He was a member of Main Street
Methodist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include
wife Martha Poole Seagle; sons Richard C. Seagle Jr., Asheville, and Kenneth R. Seagle,
Salisbury; daughter Sandra C. Flowers, Salisbury; sister Sue Triece, Charlotte; and three
grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Northcrest Chapel,
Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Savage, pastor of
Brookdale Baptist Church, Kannapolis. Burial in Brookhill Memorial Gardens, Rockwell.

Spencer, died Tuesday (March 28, 2000) at Genesis ElderCare of Salisbury.

Joseph J. Waddell
SPENCER The funeral will be held Wednesday
for Joseph Jasper Waddell, 89, 126 11th St., who died Monday (March 27, 2000) at Rowan
Regional Medical Center after eight months of declining health.
Born Feb. 17, 1911, in Spencer, he was a son of
the late Benjamin Franklin and Eliza Thomas Jackson Waddell. Educated in the Spencer
schools, he was employed by Southern Railway for 39 years before retiring in 1976. He was
a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.
Survivors include wife Marguerite Huffines
Waddell; and sons Jasper Waddell Jr., Waynesville, and Steve Waddell, Salisbury.
