Eva Senduik Jackson

JACKSON, N.J. — The funeral will be Sunday for Eva Senduik Jackson, 87, 3 Lawrence St., who died Saturday (March 11, 2000) at her home after a period of declining health.

Born July 14, 1912, in Passaic, N.J., Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of the late John and Irene Ouch Senduik. Educated in the New Jersey schools, she had been an electronic parts assembler for Industrial Circuits in Fairfield. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Peters and Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Passaic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Monroe Jackson; a son, Dennis M. Jackson; and a daughter, Phyllis Holtz.

Survivors include son John R. Jackson, Salisbury, N.C.; stepson Harvey L. Jackson, Salisbury, N.C.; daughter Lorraine Jordan, Jackson; stepdaughter Eula Mae “Polly” Fraley, Faith, N.C.; brother John Senduik, East Rutherford; sisters Ann Senduik, Georgia, and Mary Senduik, East Rutherford; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 4 p.m. Sunday, Liberty United Methodist Church cemetery, David County, N.C., conducted by the Rev. Chuck Brawley, pastor, Faith Baptist Church, Faith, N.C

Visitation: 2:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Lyerly Funeral Home, Salisbury, N.C. At other times the family will be at the home of son John R. Jackson, Salisbury, N.C.

Memorials: St. Peters and Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Building Fund, Third Street, Passaic, N.J. 07055.

 

Inez Vivian Dixon Cassell

Inez Vivian Dixon Cassell, 64, 135 Bringle Ferry Road, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a year of declining health.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge.

 

H.M. ‘Snook’ Cooper

ALBEMARLE — H.M. “Snook”Cooper, 86, 40162 Stony Gap Road, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born April 5, 1913, in Stanly County, Mr. Cooper was a son of the late George Washington and Dora Parker Cooper. He retired after 55 years from Wiscassett Mills, where he had worked as a knitter and later in shipping and receiving.

In earlier life, he played football at Albemarle High School and was a member of the Knitters, a mill sponsored baseball team.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Survivors include wife Margaret Elise Poole Cooper; sons Michael Cooper, Charlotte, Stephen Mack Cooper, Danville,Va., and Barry Cooper, Albemarle; daughter Sherry Honeycutt, North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, North Albemarle Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Grady Taylor and the Rev. Wyman Bolin. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Stony Gap Road.

Selma Hall Drye

ALBEMARLE —Selma Hall Drye, 86, 37279 Barnhardt Road, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center.

Born July 9, 1913, in Stanly County, Mrs. Drye was a daughter of the late John Wesley Hall and Ada Jordan Hall Almond. She was a homemaker.

Her husband, Hugh Henry Drye, died in 1976.

Survivors include daughters Faye Pickler, Betty Hathcock, Vivian Sinclair and Sherry Hudson, all of Albemarle, Johnsie Herlocker, Badin, and Jean Thompson, Oakboro; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Stanly Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Caroll Flack. Burial, Palestine Cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

KANNAPOLIS — Dena Russell Earnhardt, 38, 201 Winona Ave., died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

ROCKWELL — Helena Frick Eidson, 77, The Meadows Retirement Center, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Jacob Warren Faggart

Jacob Warren Faggart, 73, 1409 N. Long St., died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Rowan Funeral Service is in charge.

 

Margaret Glenn Johnson

The funeral will be Sunday for Margaret Glenn Johnson, 85, 610 S. Craige St., who died Wednesday (March 15, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after several days of serious illness.

Born Feb. 27, 1915, in Gaston County, Mrs. Johnson is a daughter of the late Emanuel and Della Muskelly Glenn. She was a graduate of J.C. Price High School and attended Livingstone College. She was later employed by Livingstone, where she eventually retired.

A member of First Calvary Baptist Church, she was a member of the kitchen committee and Missionary Unit 1. She had also been involved with the West End Community and the NAACP.

Survivors include daughter Shirley Johnson, of the home; and sister Anna Glenn Evans, Salisbury.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Sunday, First Calvary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Leamon Brown. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Anita McMahan

MOCKSVILLE —Anita McMahan, 65, 168 Etchison Road, died Tuesday (March 14, 2000) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, after a short illness.

A Davie County native, Mrs. McMahan was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include sisters Louise Mock, Winston-Salem, and Lillian McMahan, of the home.

Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, Cedar Creek Baptist Church, Davie County, conducted by the Rev. Michael W. Linville. Burial, Rose Cemetery.

Visitation: 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Felix Wesley Morgan

GOLD HILL — The funeral will be Saturday for Felix Wesley Morgan, 85, Gold Hill, who died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after five days of serious illness.

Born Oct. 24, 1914, in Rowan County, Mr. Morgan was a son of the late Charlie C. and Fannie Morgan Morgan. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he had attended Pond School. He had retired from Cannon Mills Plant One and was a life member of East Corinth Baptist Church.

His wife, Stella Marie Morgan Morgan, died March 10, 1982, and a son, Felix Eugene Morgan, died May 20, 1997.

Survivors include sons Norman Morgan, of the home, and Robert Morgan, Concord; sisters Eva Sides and Beatrice Goodman, both of Gold Hill, and Freda Brittain, Salisbury; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, East Corinth Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Daniel. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Betty Brewer Mullis

KANNAPOLIS — Betty Brewer Mullis, 67, 1100 Thomas Ave., died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at her home after seven months of declining health and a week of serious illness.

Catherine Louise Shoaf, 75, Salisbury, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Lucille Mabry Strother

ALBEMARLE — Lucille Mabry Strother, 87, 620 Heathwood Drive, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 28, 1912, in Rowan County, Mrs. Strother was a daughter of the late Thurman T. and Jennie Holshouser Mabry. A homemaker, she was active with the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of First Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school.

Her husband, Paul A. Strother, died Aug. 2, 1994.

There are no immediate survivors.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, First Street United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Colson and the Rev. Lloyd Hunsucker. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30. Burial, Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Stanly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of nephew, Charlie Daugherty, 109McCurdy Ave., Albemarle.

C.M. Troutman

KANNAPOLIS — Charlie M. Troutman, 75, 617 N. Poplar Ave., died Thursday (March 16, 2000).

Nora Tucker

KANNAPOLIS — Nora Christy Tucker, 88, 1425 Rainbow Drive, died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born May 30, 1911, in Iredell County, Mrs. Tucker was a daughter of the late Henry Grant and Sarah Eller Christy. Retired after 30 years from Cannon Mills, she was an active charter member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Her husband, Harry Dewey Tucker, died July 15, 1988.

Survivors include sons Harold Tucker, Redding, Calif., and Henry and Harvey Tucker, both of Kannapolis; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Calvary Baptist Church, Kannapolis, conducted by the Rev. Tom Tucker. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Lady’s Funeral Home.
