Terry Lynn Kimmer Jr.

MOCKSVILLE — Terry Lynn Kimmer Jr., 22, 151 J.L. Farm Lane, died Saturday (March 11, 2000).

Born Aug. 29, 1977, in Rowan County, Mr. Kimmer was the son of Kimberly Ann Spry Waller and Terry L. Kimmer, both of Mocksville. He was a Baptist.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include fiancee Amanda Robbins; son Preston Tyler Kimmer, Mocksville; brother Travis L. Waller, Alabama; and sisters Kendra N. Kimmer, Kandi L. Jones and Wendy D. Rodgers, all of Mocksville.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Davie Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Shelby Harbor. Burial, Legion Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Johnny L. Creswell

LEXINGTON — Funeral services were held at 11 this morning for Johnny Lynn Creswell, 41, Cow Palace Road, who died Friday (March 10, 2000) in Sevierville, Tenn., after a brief illness.

Born June 5, 1958, in CabarrusCounty, Mr. Creswell was a son of Betty Creswell, Salisbury, and the late Roy Creswell. A Baptist, he was an employee of Asphlundh Tree Co.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Vickie Creswell; and brothers David Creswell, Salisbury, Benny Creswell, Little River, S.C., and Gary Creswell, Columbia,S.C.

Major Richard Jones officiated at the graveside service at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Davidson Funeral Home was in charge.

 

Willie Harr Harris

Willie Harr Harris, 81, Salisbury, died Sunday (March 12, 2000) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, after a period of declining health.

Born Sept. 16, 1918, in Alvarado, Va., Mrs. Harris was a daughter of the late James Rufus and Ollie Rebecca Stevens Harr. She graduated from a Damascus, Va., high school.

A member of Damascus Presbyterian Church, she attended Milford Hills United Methodist Church. Retired, she had owned and operated Anchor Beauty Shop in Damascus.

Her husband, James Arch Harris, preceded her in death.

Survivors include son James C. Harris, Salisbury; daughter Mrs. Tony (Patsy Ann)Bridgeman, Concord; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: Entombment service, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Forest Hills Memorial Garden Mausoleum, Abingdon, Va., conducted by the Rev. Neill Shaw and the Rev. Robert Thornton.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home.

Perlie May Laslow

The funeral will be Tuesday for Perlie May Marlow Laslow, 62, of Charlotte, who died Wednesday (March 1, 2000) at Genesis Eldercare after 10 months of declining health.

Born Nov. 28, 1937, in Charleston, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Bill and Minnie Viola Tyler Chambers. Educated in Charleston schools, she was employed as a store cashier and was of the Baptist faith.

Three daughters, Crystal Gail Cumbee, Tonia Lynn Cornell, and Lee-Ann Nowell, preceded her in death.

Survivors include husband Thomas Andrew Laslow, whom she married on Oct. 1, 1980; sons Robert Eugene Nowell Jr., Memphis, Tenn., and John Dorson Nowell, Charleston, S.C.; daughters Cookie Spellings, Memphis, Tenn., Theresa Lynn Nowell, Charleston, and Judy LeJean Ritchie, Salisbury; and two grandchildren.

Services: Service of remembrance 3 p.m. Tuesday, James C. Lyerly Chapel of Lyerly Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Dan Thornton, pastor of Second Presbyterian Church.

Visitation: None. The family will be at the home of Judy L. Ritchie of Salisbury.

Memorials: American Cancer Society, Rowan Unit, P. O. Box 1264, Salisbury, N.C. 28144.

 

Bessie Brown Moorehead

DURHAM — Bessie Margaret Brown Moorehead, 90, 5018 Brenda Court, died Saturday (March 11, 2000) at her home.

Born Aug. 18, 1909, in Sharkey County, Miss., Mrs. Moorehead was a daughter of the late Alexander and Jessie Saunders Brown. She had retired from Wiscassett Hosiery Mill, Albemarle, and had also worked at Rayleses. A member of Graystone Baptist Church, she was a former member of West Albemarle Baptist Church.

Survivors include daughter Peggy Jones, Durham; son Alex Moorehead, Durham; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Tuesday, Fairview Memorial Park, Albemarle, conducted by the Rev. William J. Jones.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

 

O.Z. ‘Bud’ Rutledge

CHINA GROVE — O.Z. “Bud” Rutledge, 83, 709 Frontier Circle, died Sunday (March 12, 2000) at the Hefner VAMedical Center in Salisbury.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is in charge.
