The golf notebook:Salisbury native Tripp
Isenhour has surged into second place among money leaders on the Buy.com Tour after his
big victory in the Mississippi Gulf Coast Open last weekend.
Isenhour, of Orlando, Fla., won $72,000 last
Sunday at The Oaks Golf Club in Pass Christian,Miss., where he shot an 8-under-par 64 in
the third round.His 72-hole total of 279 (8 under) was two strokes better than runner-up
John Elliott, a former PGA Tour player.
It was Isenhours first victory on the
Buy.com (formerly Nike) Tour, but hes won other pro tournaments since graduating
from Georgia Tech, where he was an All-American, in 1990.
Another former PGA player, Donnie Hammond, leads
the Buy.com Tours money list with $86,804 through three tournaments. Isenhour, who
had small winnings in the first two events, is next at $76,800.

FAST START: Catawba Colleges golf team
appears headed for an excellent spring season. Coach Sam Gealys Indians won the
Richard RendlemanInvitational at the Country Club of Salisbury Monday and Tuesday.
Catawba had a 36-hole total of 581 to lead a
strong field of 17 teams that included NCAA Division II powers Georgia College &
State, Clayton and Pfeiffer.
The Indians had excellent balanced. No. 5 man Nick
Schiavone led the way with a 144 total, followed by AdrianMarbry at 146, Derrek Camps and
ClaytonPeterson at 147 and Christopher McCoy at 148.
Catawba played Saturday and today in the Tusculum
Invitational at Links Hill Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn. The Indians are also entered
in the Lacy Gane Invitational at Pinecrest Country Club in Lumberton March 20-21.

HALL OF FAME: Catawbas annual Hall of Fame
golf tourney will be held Friday, April 7, at the Country Club.
The tournament will be held in conjunction with
the Hall of Fame luncheon and induction ceremony on April 8.
The golf tournament field will be limited to 72
players.

TRIAD WINNERS: Two Rowan County golfers, Curtis
Kyles of Woodleaf and Larry Lowe of Salisbury, were flight champions last Sunday in the
first tournament on the Carolina Blonde Amateur Golf Tours Triad division.
Kyles shot a 75 to beat Brown Summitts Ned
Moore by one stroke in the B flight at The Legacy Golf Links near Pinehurst.Kyles
round was highlighted by three straight birdies on holes No. 4-6.
Lowe had a consistent 82 round with 41s on each
side to win the C flight by two strokes over Fayettevilles Jay Windmon.

WARRIOR ON TOUR:The Warrior Golf Club will host
the fourth stop on the Charlotte division of the Carolina Blonde Amateur Golf Tour on
Saturday, April 8.
The second leg of the tour was held at Crescent
Golf Club last weekend, while the third leg is at Firethorne Country Club in Waxhaw next
Saturday.

SPRING MULLIGANS:There are still openings for
teams in Spring Two-Man Mulligans at Warrior and Corbin Hills.
There is still room for about 20 teams at Warrior
on Saturday and Sunday. The first 64 paid teams will be accepted.
The entry fee is $100 per team for members and
$150 per team for non-members. The fee includes green and cart fees both teams plus a
breakfast buffet on Sunday.
It will be a two-man captains-choice stroke
play tourney. Teams will be flighted after the first round. Play will start at 9 a.m. each
day.
At CorbinHills, which will also have a field of 64
teams on March 25-26, there are still openings for less than 15 teams.
The entry fee is $60 per team for members and $90
per team for non-members. The fee includes cart and green fees both days.
It will be a stroke play tourney with teams
flighted after the first round. Shotgun starts are scheduled at 8:30 a.m. each day.

CHURCH EVENT: The Landis Church of God Spring
Classic Golf Tournament is scheduled at 1 p.m. Saturday at CorbinHills Golf Club.
The entry fee for the four-man
captains-choice event is $32 per person or $128 per team.
Prizes, including longest drive and closest shot
to the pin, will be awarded.
All proceeds will go toward the churchs
softball team.

ACES: Al Sirois made a hole in one at Kannapolis
Country Club last week, using a 9-iron to ace the par-3, 113-yard No. 2 hole from the
white tees.
Sirois, who was playing with Charles Cannon, Bill
Haire and Sonny Wilson, has made three hole in ones.
Another recent ace was made by Joy Figueredo of
Virginia at Crescent Golf Club. She got her hole in one from the red tees on the par-3,
126-yard No. 5 hole.
