Edward Junior Earnhardt
COOLEEMEE The funeral is today for Friday
for Edward Junior Earnhardt, 78, Cooleemee, who died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at the
Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury, after a period of declining health.
Born Nov. 19, 1921, in Rowan County, Mr. Earnhardt
was a son of the late Charles Edward and Ida Mae Thompson Earnhardt. He was educated in
the Rowan County schools.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he had
retired from the military after 20 years of service. He was a member of Union Lutheran
Church.
Survivors include daughters Nita Morgan,
Cleveland, and Diane Lane, Rock Hill, S.C.; brothers Frank Earnhardt, Cooleemee, and
Robert Earnhardt and Grady Pete Earnhardt, both of Salisbury; sisters Edna and
Mabel Bentley, both of Salisbury; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Gilliam, 90, 904 Venus St., died Thursday (March 9, 2000) at Ochsner Medical Center, New
Orleans, after a period of declining health.
The body will be brought to Whitleys Funeral
Home for completion of arrangements.
Harold Gray
LEXINGTON Harold Gray, 90, Hillside Drive,
died Thursday (March 9, 2000) at his home after two years of declining health.
Born Jan. 23, 1910, in Wise County, Va., Mr. Gray
was the son of the late William Lucius and Maude Lee Stapleton Gray. Retired from Frank Ix
and Sons, he was a member of North Lexington Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Pauline Council Gray; son
Edward Gray, Lexington; daughter Patricia Smith, Lexington; brothers Paul Gray, Salisbury,
and Glenn Gray, Summerfield; and two grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Davidson Funeral Home,
Lexington Chapel, conducted by Dr. Robert Floyd and the Rev. Max Shoaf. Burial, Forest
Hill Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.At

Albert Clyde Jones
CONCORD The funeral will be Saturday for
Albert Clyde Jones, 89, 250 Bishop Lane, who died Thursday (March 9, 2000) at the Brian
Center of Concord.
Born Dec. 7, 1910, in Sandy Mush, Mr. Jones was a
son of the late James Elbert and Violet Spurlin Jones. He was educated in the Buncombe
County schools. A Baptist, he had retired as a truck driver for the textile industry.
Survivors include wife Emma Sue Dodd Jones; son
Clyde Albert Jones, Midland; daughters Pamela Sue Williams and Debra Patricia Roberts,
both of Kannapolis; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

LEXINGTON Frances Elizabeth Lohr King, 77,
formerly of Lexington, died Tuesday (March 7, 2000) at Commonwealth Center, Fairfax, Va.
Born Sept. 1, 1922, in Davidson County, Mrs. King
was a daughter of the late Ivey Washington and Mary Elizabeth Berrier Lohr. She had
retired from Winston Printing in Winston-Salem.
Survivors include daughter Patty Oscar, Fairfax,
Va.; sister Jean Morgan, Sarasota,Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Timberlake Chapel,
Piedmont Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Michael Hooper. Burial, Forest Hill Memorial
Park.
Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the
funeral home.
John Leonard Kinley
The funeral will be Saturday for John Leonard
Kinley, 69, Salisbury, who died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at his home after four months of
serious illness.
Born June 26, 1930, in Rowan County, Mr. Kinley
was a son of the late Maxie Seymour and Sadie Model Allen Kinley. Educated in the Rowan
County schools, he was a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church.
After retiring in 1992 from the city of Salisbury,
Street Department Division, he was employed as a truck driver for Grinnell. He also served
in the 120th Infantry division of the National Guard. He was a member of Oakland Heights
Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Rosenna
Campbell Kinley, whom he married Dec. 16, 1950; sons James and Gary Kinley, both of
Salisbury; daughter Janet Mosley, Mocksville; brother Harley Kinley, Woodleaf; sister
Jeanette Steele, Powder Springs, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oakland Heights
Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Edward Bitner. The body will be placed in the church
at 10:30. Burial, City Memorial Park. Military rites by Rowan Veterans Council.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home.
