Minnie Keller Harsey

CHINA GROVE — Minnie Keller Harsey, 88, 340 Scamp Road, died Tuesday (March 7, 2000) at Big Elm Nursing Center, Kannapolis.

Born July 31, 1911, in Burke County, Mrs. Harsey was a daughter of the late Belle Keller. She retired from Terry Products after 20 years of service.

Survivors include sister Clidie Mae Cauble, China Grove; and brother Albert Keller, Kannapolis.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Thursday, Greenlawn Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Billy Huneycutt.

Visitation: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Whitley’s Funeral Home, Kannapolis.

 

William Albert Joyner

MOCKSVILLE — The funeral will be Thursday for William Albert Joyner, 43, 224 Duke Whitaker Road, who died Monday (March 6, 2000) at his home.

Born June 19, 1956, in Albuquerque, N.M., Mr. Joyner was a son of Cleveland A. Joyner, Mocksville, and the late Qutah Farless Joyner. He was a truck driver and a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his father, include brother Hal Joyner, Mocksville; and half sisters Lynda J. Wallace, Mocksville, Barbara Ann J. Snider, Lewisville, and Iven J. McDaniel, Statesville.

Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, Davie Funeral Service Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Caren Morgan. Burial, Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Dorothy Brown Martin

LITHONIA, Ga. — Dorothy Elizabeth Brown Martin, 86, Lithonia, died Monday (March 6, 2000) at Starcrest Nursing Home.

The body will be brought to Lyerly Funeral Home, Salisbury, for completion of arrangements.

 

Mae C. McNeely

CHINA GROVE — Mae C. McNeely, 96, China Grove, died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at Spencer Healthcare Center, Spencer.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove, is in charge.

 

Elva Cope Miller

MOCKSVILLE — Elva Cope Miller, 86, Salisbury St., died Tuesday (March 7, 2000) at her home.

Born Nov. 12, 1913, in Davie County, Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late John F. and Martha Ellis Cope. She was a graduate of Smith Grove High School.

Mrs. Miller and her late husband, William Markland “Buck” Miller, owned and operated Bucks Barbecue Restaurant. She had also worked at Hanes Corporation and Western Electric.

She was a member of Macedonia Moravian Church.

Survivors include daughter Mrs. John Wess (Josephine Miller) Davis, Atlanta, Ga.; brother J.K. Cope, Portland, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Rose Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Charles Turner.

Visitation: At the cemetery immediately after the service.

Eaton Funeral Service is in charge.

Memorials: Hospice of Davie County, P.O. Box 848, Mocksville, N.C. 27028.

 

Dollie Lefler Poplin

Dollie Jean Lefler Poplin, 68, Salisbury, died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Thelma Windham Tyner

KANNAPOLIS — Thelma Windham Tyner, 74, formerly of 716 Pine St., died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at Big Elm Nursing Center.

Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis, is in charge.

 

James Roy Waldrup

ALBEMARLE — James Roy Waldrup, 87, 1930 Woodhaven Court, died Tuesday (March 7, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 9, 1912, in Cheraw, S.C., Mr. Waldrup was a son of the late Sid and Sarah Hall Waldrup. He had worked as a fireman at Yadkin Brick Yard for 38 years. A member of Palestine United Methodist Church, he was a past Sunday school teacher and former member of the administrative board.

Survivors include wife Gladys Marie Blalock Waldrup; sons Jerry Waldrup, New London, and Jim Waldrup, Boiling Springs, S.C.; daughter Pat Wagoner, Denton; brothers Billy Ray Waldrup, Jonesville, and Lester Waldrup, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Palestine United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Caroll Flack. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6:30-8:30 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Jerry Waldrup, 38011 Sawmill Road, New London.

 

Emma Bell Reeves

CLEVELAND — Emma Bell Reeves, 90, 12650 Cool Springs Road, died Monday (March 6, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem, after a period of declining health.

Born in Iredell County, Mrs. Reeves was a member of Rock Hill Church of Christ.

Survivors include daughter Bessie Fisher, Winston-Salem; sister Betty Edwards, Farmingsdale, N.J.; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Rock Hill Church of Christ, Cleveland, conducted by the Rev. Toney Reese. Burial church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Friday at the church.

Graham Funeral Home, Mocksville, is in charge.

 

Elmer Zimmerman

MOCKSVILLE — Elmer Zimmerman, Mullins Road, died Wednesday (March 8, 2000) at his home.

Eaton Funeral Home is in charge.
