the woods and fired a gun at them, according to a report.Officers heard a shot come from a patch of woods on Shue Road near Leazer Road as
they were searching for three of the five suspects who ran there from the Chevrolet Camaro
in which they were traveling.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, Rowan County Sheriffs
Department Sgt. Randy St.Clair attempted to pull the Camaro over on North Main Street.
When the car did not stop, St. Clair began pursuit and
notified the North Carolina Highway Patrol to assist.
The Camaro traveled West on N.C. 152 West and turned onto
Miller Road. The cars reached speeds of 80 mph, according to the report.
The suspect vehicle led the chase down Miller Chapel Road
and then onto Shue Road, where the driver stopped the car about 300 yards from the
intersection.
Five males ran from the vehicle and two passengers were
immediately detained.

responded to the scene of the search to locate the suspects. A highway patrol helicopter
was unable to assist in the search because of the thick trees. China Grove and Landis
police set up a perimeter around the area.
