To honor Father Tom Clements upon his retirement, the Hispanic community presented him with the following expression of gratitude for the Spanish language Mass he conducts at 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoons — and for his ministry.

We thank you for opening your heart and your parish of Sacred Heart to us when we come as new residents of this region of the United States.

Gracias porque nos enseño un espiritu de bienvenido y de hospitalidad. Nos ha demonstrado un gran respeto por nuestras culturas y nuestras tradiciones. Usted ha reconocido los dones que nuestras familias pueden ofrecer a la comunidad.

Thank you for showing us a spirit of welcome and hospitality. You have respected our cultures and our traditions. You have recognized the gifts that our families can offer to the community.

Gracias porque Usted nos ha dado los sacramentos que Dios manda a nuestras familias en los tiempos mas importante de nuestras vidas. Dio bienvenido a los niños en la vida de la iglesia, los ayudó ser personas de paz reconciliación, y los invitó a la Mesa del Señor. Animó a confirmar la fé. Nos dio el sacramento de Matrimonio para iniciar nuevas familias Cristianas de fé y dedicación. Y nos ayudo inmensamente en los momentos de tristeza y dolor, cuando más lo necesitamos verdaderamente.

Thank you for giving us the sacraments in which God touches our families in the most important times of our lives. You welcomed our children into the life of the church, helped them to become persons of peace and reconciliation, and invited them to the Table of the Lord. You encouraged our youth to confirm their faith. You give us the sacrament of marriage to begin new Christian families of faith and dedication. And you help us immensely in the moments of sadness and pain when we most need it.

We have received with much gratitude the word of God in the gospel you have preached to us. Even though you speak to us through an interpreter, we recognize the truth of your message and the intensity of your faithfulness to the word of God.

In this season of Pentecost, we have special appreciation for the innumerable ways God has given us his spirit through you.
