MOUNT PLEASANT — Nancy Lee Bost Bost, 58, 32485 Bridge Road, died Thursday (June 8, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
A registered nurse, she had retired from Hefner VAMedical Center, Salisbury.
Services: 11 a.m.Saturday, Bethel Bear Creek United Church of Christ. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times the family will be at the home on Bridge Road.
Minnie Ruth Edwards
CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Saturday for Minnie Ruth Edwards, 85, 916 N. Main St., who died Thursday (June 8, 2000) at her home.
Born June 20, 1914, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Edwards was a daughter of the late Fred and Ella Honeycutt Vanderburg. Educated in the Kannapolis schools, she had worked at Cannon Mills as a spinner.
Her husband, James Robert Edwards, died Dec. 1, 1983.
Survivors include son Howard Edwards, China Grove; daughter Barbara Morgan, China Grove; brother Clarence Vanderburg, Kannapolis; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Landis, conducted by the Rev. Gary Sheets. Burial, Kannapolis City Cemetery.
Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

EAST SPENCER — Wiley Rayford “Ray” Ellis, 54, 180 Heiligtown Road, died Thursday (June 8, 2000) at Heritage Plantation, Salisbury, after several months of declining health.

MOCKSVILLE — Pearl Grubb Owen, 80, Mocksville, died Friday (June 9, 2000) at her home.

Boyd David Phillips, 82, Long Beach, formerly of Rowan County, died Friday (June 9, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Tommy James Whipple
CONCORD — Tommy James Whipple, 57, 117 American Ave. N.E., died Thursday (June 8, 2000) at his home after nine months of declining health and three months of serious illness.
Born Dec. 12, 1942, in Ottawa County, Ohio, Mr. Whipple was a son of the late Lloyd and Malinda Arndt Whipple. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1963.
He was co-owner and operator of T&N Manufacturing Inc., Davidson, from 1977 to 1995 and later worked with Carpenter Industries, Harrisburg. He was a member of First Assembly.
Survivors include wife Mary Lou Martin Whipple; sons Tommy Whipple Jr., David Whipple and Tim Whipple, all of Davidson; daughter Dana Whipple, Davidson; brothers Jack Whipple, Freemont, Ohio, and Glenn Whipple, Rock Ridge, Ohio; stepdaughter Angela Bowles, Salisbury; stepson Christopher Richmond, Salisbury; and four step-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, and the Rev. Sam Farina. Entombment, Carolina Memorial Park Plaza Mausoleum, Kannapolis.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on American Avenue.

Viola Whitley
NORWOOD — Viola Whitley, 88, 32544 Chapel Road, died Thursday (June 8, 2000) at her home.
She was a former comber hand at American and Efird Mills
