Leggette, 13, 1525 N. Long St., died Saturday (June 3, 2000) at North Carolina University
Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, following a week of serious illness.
Born Nov. 28, 1986, in Asheville, Miss Leggette was the
daughter of Willie Hugh and Peggy Jo Perry Leggette. She was a student at North Rowan
Middle School and attended Northwest Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses.
In addition to her parents, survivors include maternal
grandfather Joseph Perry, Salisbury; paternal grandmother Mollie Leggette, Laurinburg;
brothers Willie Calvin Leggette, of the home, Nicholas Leggette, East Spencer, and James
A. Carr, Harrisburg.

Thelma Mayhew Safrit
MOORESVILLE Thelma Mayhew Safrit, 89, died Saturday
(June 3, 2000) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Broad Street United Methodist
Church, conducted by the Rev. Mike Macdonald.
Visitation: The family will receive friends one hour prior
to service.

Lonnie James Myers
Lonnie James Myers, 72, South Fisherman Lane, died Friday
(June 2, 2000) at his home.
Born Nov. 27, 1927, in Davie County, Mr. Myers was the son
of the late Shearlie and Mattie Myers. Educated in Davie County schools Mr. Myers was a
U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from Western Electric Co. as an electrician.
His first wife, Rachel Long Myers, and a brother, Samuel
Myers, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Ophie Motley Myers; daughters
Shirley M. Beauchamp and Annette M. Kane, both of Advance, and Angela M. McIntyre,
Salisbury; son James A. Myers, Salisbury; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek
Chapel, conducted by Bill Teague. Burial, Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation: 7-9 tonight at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home,
Inc.
