Man dies after shooting earlier this month

BY JILL McCARTNEY
SALISBURY POST

A shooting that injured a man early in July has turned into a homicide investigation for Salisbury Police.

On July 11, Anthony Emmanuel Davis was shot three times in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn Limited, 1328 S. Jake Alexander Blvd.

According to Police Capt. Mark Wilhelm, Davis died July 20 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center of complications from those injuries.

Around 1:55 p.m. on July 11, someone shot Davis, 33, in his mouth, leg and arm. Medics took Davis to Rowan Regional Medical Center, which later sent him to the hospital in Winston-Salem.

Police do not have any suspects. Before he died, Davis told police that three black men confronted him when he stepped out of his hotel room that night. One shot him.

According to Wilhelm, Davis has also used the names of Errol George Murphy Jr. and Angel.

Police are asking anyone with information concerning the shooting to call the department at 638-5340 or Crimestoppers at 638-5388.
