Shane Wesley Campbell

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Friday for Shane Wesley Campbell, 27, 400 Villa St., who died Tuesday (July 25, 2000) at his home.

Born Feb. 7, 1973, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Campbell was a son of Johnny R. Campbell, Concord, and Margaret Mills Wood, Kannapolis. He was a 1991 graduate of A.L. Brown High School.

He was self-employed in the heating and air conditioning business and attended Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include wife Angela Powell Campbell; sons Bryan W. Campbell and Michael D. Powell, both of the home; daughter HaleyM. Campbell, of the home; brothers Johnny R. Campbell Jr. and Christopher B. Campbell, both of Kannapolis; maternal grandmother Juanita Mills, Concord; stepfather Tony M. Wood, Kannapolis; stepmother Renee Campbell, Concord; stepsisters Angie Jordan, Ellen Crowell and Carol Vannoy, all of Kannapolis, and Jennifer Stone, Mount Pleasant; and stepbrother Shawn McFalls, Charlotte.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Terry Deitz and the Rev. Steve Ayers. Burial,Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home of Margaret Wood, 201 East E St.

 

Curtis Erskine Cobb

Curtis Erskine Cobb, 85, Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, died Wednesday(July 26, 2000) at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Bryce Cress

KANNAPOLIS — Bryce Leroy Cress, 81, 519 Chrysler St., died Wednesday (July 26, 2000) at his home.

Lady’s Funeral Home is in charge.

 

George ‘Donnie’ Kiser

DETROIT, Mich. — The funeral will be Saturday for George Allen “Donnie” Kiser, 60, 1310 Pallister No. 805, who died Friday (July 21, 2000) at Henry Ford Hospital.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home, Salisbury, conducted by the Rev. John Jones. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery,Salisbury.

Visitation: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Ernestine S. Logan

Ernestine S. Logan, 92, Hasting, Mich., formerly of Salisbury, died Wednesday (July 19, 2000) at her home.

Born Dec. 13, 1907, in Evart, Mich., Mrs. Logan was a daughter of the late Frank and Harriet Spinney Sorereen. She was valedictorian for the 1926 graduating class of Lakeview High School in Michigan.

In 1930, she graduated with honors from Michigan State University. She received three months of special training at Merril Palmer Nursing Institute in Indianapolis and a year training at Indiana University School of Medicine Dietetics Division.

On Dec. 24, 1937, she married Dr. Wesley G. Logan, who died Oct. 6, 1997.

Mrs. Logan worked in her late husband’s office from 1970-1975. She had earlier worked at the University of Michigan Hospital, University of Michigan Student Health Center and as a dietitian at St. Lukes Hospital, Saginaw, Mich. from 1931-1937.

In Michigan, she was a past elder at Hastings First Presbyterian Church and a past president of the Presbyterian Women’s Association. She was a member of the Garden Club, Hastings Women’s Club and Omicon Nu Chapter Alpha Gamma Delta. A member of Order of the Eastern Star, in 1945 she was worthy matron of Lakeview Eastern Star. She taught 4-H sewing and knitting for 17 years and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and a longtime volunteer at Pennock Hospital in Michigan.

She resided in Hastings, Mich. from 1949-1993, when she and her late husband moved to Salisbury with son, David Logan. She returned to Hastings in June, 2000, with her son and his family.

Survivors, in addition to her son David, include son Arthur Logan, Clio, Mich.; stepdaughter Harriett Berry, Annapolis, Md.; stepson Gene Logan, Whitehall, Mich.; sister Evelyn Armstrong, Annapolis, Md.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 23 at Hastings First Presbyterian Church, Hastings, Mich., conducted by the Rev. Willard H. Curtis. Burial was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Evart, Mich.

Wren Funeral Home, Hastings, Mich., was in charge.

Fannie Miller

ROCKWELL — The funeral will be Friday for Fannie Bame Cauble Miller, 97, Rockwell, who died Tuesday (July 25, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Sept. 16, 1902, in Rowan County, Mrs. Miller was a daughter of the late John Henry and Allie Amanda Morgan Bame. She was educated in the Rowan County schools and had retired from Cannon Mills, Plant 7, card room.

The oldest member of Union Lutheran Church, she was a member of Martha Cauble Sunday school class and Goodtimes Senior Citizens Club. She was also a charter member of the Granite Quarry and Rockwell senior citizens clubs.

Her first husband, Jacob Nevin Cauble, died in 1943; and her second husband, Jacob Moses Miller, died in 1958.

Survivors include daughters Elva C. Kesler, Ola Mae Cauble, Frances Leazer, Faye C. Kesler and Doris C. Oddie, all of Salisbury; stepson Harry Miller, Rockwell; stepdaughter Vela Mae Young, Salisbury; sister Josephine B. Harriss, High Point; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Friday, Union Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Norris, pastor, and the Rev. C.P. Fisher. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Powles Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Memorials: Union Lutheran Church, Fellowship Building Fund, 4770 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, N.C. 28146.

 

Vada Hilton Sheets

The funeral will be Friday for Vada Hilton Sheets, 66, Sunset Drive, who died Tuesday (July 25, 2000) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, after six weeks of declining health.

Born May 17, 1934, in Forsyth County, Mrs. Sheets, a daughter of the late Roland Alexander and Sallie McCullough Hilton, was a graduate of Shady Grove High School, Davie County. She had worked for Western Electric Co. and later operated L &J Office Machines with her husband, James Sheets, whom she married April 17, 1954.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, include daughters Denise Harris, Salisbury, and Teresa Sheets, of the home; brother Ernest Hilton,Oxford; sisters Pat Hilton Coppley,Lexington, Kay Hilton Latham, Mocksville, and Helen Hilton Howard, Advance; and three grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Bixby Presbyterian Church, Advance, conducted by the Rev. David Daniel, the Rev. Fred Crisco and the Rev. Carol Anne Jackson. Burial, family plot in church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home of Denise Harris, 207 Miller Chapel Road.

Brite Eddings Sisk

CHINA GROVE — The funeral will be Friday for Brite Eddings Sisk, 87, 460 Sloop St., formerly of Kannapolis, died Tuesday (July 25, 2000) at Brian Center, Mooresville.

Born Feb. 25, 1913, in Anson County, Mrs. Sisk, a daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Lelia Ivy Eddings, was educated in the Anson County schools. She had retired from Cannon Mills, Spinning Room No. 7 after 45 years and was a member of West Corinth Baptist Church.

Her husband, Ruben Sisk, died Nov. 14, 1975.

Survivors include daughters Margaret S. Tarlton and Mildred S. Hardy, both of China Grove; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home Chapel, Landis, conducted by the Rev. Randy Crowell. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 6-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
