Ronald Keith Arey

ALBEMARLE — Ronald Keith Arey, 61, 709 Mill St., died Thursday (June 29, 2000) at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Born Dec. 28, 1938, in Stanly County, Mr. Arey was a son of the late Lottie Mae Shankle and Hulon Bensil Arey. A graduate of the Albemarle schools, he was a retired helicopter pilot with the Charlotte Police Department. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Arey is survived by a brother, Beauford Arey, Charlotte.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Monday, Fairview Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Ronald Thompson.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

 

Weldon Parnell

Weldon Parnell, 80, Salisbury, formerly of Lexington, died Thursday (June 29, 2000) at the Hefner VA Medical Center after six months of declining health.

Born March 21, 1920, in Hemingway, S.C., Mr. Parnell was a son of the late Leola Coward and Hoyt Parnell. Educated in the Hemingway schools, Mr. Parnell was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired automobile mechanic.

Mr. Parnell was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Jarvis Parnell.

Survivors include sons Weldon Parnell Jr., Lexington, William Thomas Parnell, Rock Hill, S.C., and James H. Parnell, West Virginia; daughter Martha Sanderfur, Greensboro; sisters Martha Morris, Andrews, S.C.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Monday, Salisbury National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard site, conducted by a VA chaplain, with military rites by Rowan County Veterans Council.

Visitation: 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday, Lyerly Funeral Home.

 

Alice Pickler

Alice Pickler, 80, Salisbury, died Friday (June 30, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Robert ‘Sonny’ Templeton

The funeral for Robert Leonard “Sonny” Templeton will be held Monday. Mr. Templeton died Thursday (June 29, 2000) at the Hefner VA Medical Center.

Born Feb. 27, 1933, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late John and Bessie Mae Wood. He was raised by Bessie Cowan Templeton.

A graduate of J.C. Price High School, he had retired as a salesman for Sunbeam Bakery. He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where he served on the Usher Board and was active with the Presbyterian Men. He was also a member of J.C. Price American Legion Post 107.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Permelia Harris Templeton.

Survivors include Donald Bunyon, Tucson, Ariz., and Aaron B. Lewis, Salisbury; daughter Tina R. Templeton, Washington, D.C.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren.

Services: Noon Monday, Trinity Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. George Hunter, pastor. Burial, Allen Temple Presbyterian Church.

Visitation: 11 a.m.-noon Monday, at the church.

Grier Cline Waller

Grier Cline Waller died Saturday (July 1,2000) at Genesis ElderCare.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Penniger Waller.

Davie Funeral Service, Mocksville, is in charge.

 

Steven Keith Warden

Steven Keith Warden, 34, 4280 Miller Road, died Friday (June 30, 2000) at his residence.

Henry Wright

Henry Wright, 64, Salisbury, died Friday (June 30, 2000) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
