Plejs will be back in Salisbury by spring.Victor Wallace, vice president of Belle Realty, which is building Sunset Square
where Plejs used to stand on South Main Street, said a 7,800-square-foot building
will house the new Plejs store. The old one burned in January 1999.
The square has four additional spaces of 1,400
square feet each. Sharonview Federal Credit Union has leased one of them. The other three
are still available, Wallace said. The rate is $12 to $16 per square foot, depending on
how the occupant wants the space finished.
Sunset Square will have a total of 13,600 square
feet when finished, Wallace said, and hes already receiving lots of calls from
people who might want to lease it.
Wallace called the complex a real home-grown
project because it is being handled entirely by local companies.
Local architect Berlel Brady designed the project.
Hoyt Popes company, Snipes & Associates, is the contractor. Wallace Realty, of
which Victor Wallace is president of marketing, is leasing the space.
Wallace said it had been a long time since any
kind of development was done entirely by local people. It was possible because it is
a modest center, he said.
Building should be done by early April. We
were originally aiming for March, he said. Weather already has slowed work.
