Center, Salisbury, after two years of declining health.
Born 14, 1914, in Hickory, Mrs. Bean was a
daughter of the late Addie Bostian and Atlas Dewey Isenhour. Educated in Hickory schools,
she worked in food service and retired from Holiday Inn in Salisbury. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include daughters Doris B. Peeler
Hensley, of the home, and Maxine B. Thomas, Salisbury; brother J.E. Isenhour, Salisbury;
four grandchildren and six grandchildren.
Service: Graveside, 3 p.m. Monday, conducted by
the Rev. Donald S. Wagner. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Born Sept. 5, 1901, in Stanly County, Mrs. Burton
was a daughter of the late Mary Jane Molly McManus and Adam Nathaniel Drye.
Mrs. Burton was a retired CEO, owner and operator of Helms Motor Express. She was a member
of First Lutheran Church for more than 80 years, and was the oldest member at the time of
her death.
Her first husband, CarlLee Helms Sr., and second
husband, Albert Daniel Burton, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Carl Lee Helms Jr.,
Albemarle; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Rolling Wood Drive, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center,
Salisbury, following two weeks of serious illness.
Born Sept. 16, 1904, in Catawba County, Mrs. Holt
was a daughter of the late Hassie Beatty and James C. Cornelius. Educated in Rowan County
schools, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Holt was a member of Sills Creek AME Zion Church, where
she was a mother of the church and served on the Deaconess board, lay council, life
members council, camp Dorothy Wall committee and parent body missionary.
Her husband, Theodore P. Holt, died on Sept. 18,
1965.
Survivors include sons James M. Holt, J.F. Holt
and JerryHolt, all of Salisbury, Leonard T.Holt and Larry Holt, both of Landis, and Johnny
Holt, Kannapolis; brothers John B. Holt and the Rev. Frank Cornelius, both of Salisbury;
sisters Viola McHenry, Philadelphia, Idella Miller, Concord, Rosa Scott and Jessie

William Bus Lineberger
SPENCER
Born Nov. 18, 1918, in Spencer, Mr. Lineberger was
a son of the late Mary Harris and Marcus L. Lineberger. Mr. Lineberger graduated from
Spencer High School in 1936. A brakeman/conductor for Southern Railway for 40 years before
retiring in 1978, Mr. Lineberger was a member of Spencer Presbyterian Church. Mr.
Lineberger was a member of the Tuesday AM Mens Breakfast Fellowship at the First Baptist
Church of Spencer.
A veteran of the U.S. Armys 727 Railroad
Battalion, Mr. Lineberger served for 37 months in Italy, France and Germany during World
War II.
Survivors include sons William Mark Lineberger,
Oak Island; daughters Patti L. Secreast, Spencer, and Vicki L. Biggers, Weaverville; six
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Born March 20, 1922, in Salisbury, Mr. Loflin was
a son of the late Beulah Davis and Norman Loflin. Educated in Salisbury City schools, Mr.
Loflin worked as a carpenter for Quillman Wood Construction Co. before retiring. He also
worked for Servco Service Station on North Main Street. A member of St. James Lutheran
Church in Rockwell and Russell-Miller American Legion Post #112, Mr. Loflin was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include sons Ronnie Loflin, Salisbury,
and Billy Joe Loflin, Rockwell; brothers Jack Loflin and Arnold Loflin, both of Salisbury;
six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mildred Cowan Ritch, 89, 820 Klumac Road, formerly
of Filbert Street, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000)at Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.
Born Dec. 10, 1910, in Statesville, Mrs. Ritch was
a daughter of the late Opal Bailey and David Octavius Cowan. Educated in Statesville
schools, Mrs. Ritch graduated from the Womens College in Greensboro. She was a
teacher for more than 30 years. Mrs. Ritch taught at Spencer Elementary School and A.T.
Allen and Henderson elementary schools in Salisbury.
Mrs. Ritch was amember of the First Presbyterian
Church of Salisbury, the Rumple Bible Class and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers
Sorority.
Her husband, William Charles Ritch, preceded her
in death.
Survivors include son William Van Ritch,
Edneyville; sisters Hazel C. Goforth, Charlotte and Gretchen C. Nesbit, Statesville; three
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Salisbury, died Saturday (Jan. 22, 2000)at W.G.Hefner V.A. Medical Center, Salisbury,
following three months of serious illness and two weeks of critical illness.
Born Dec. 14, 1926, in Guilford County, Mr. Stack
was a son of the late Ruby Elizabeth Orrell and Raymond Stack. Educated in Guilford County
schools, he was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Stack was a salesman for a number of years
while living in High Point. After moving to Salisbury, he owned and operated Salisbury
Glidden Paint Center until retiring. Mr. Stack was a charter member of Salisbury Christian
Fellowship, where he was active in all phases of work, served as an elder and was a member
of the adult Sunday School class.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Geneva
Grissett Stack, whom he married July 27, 1946; daughters Toni Stack Iossi, Shallotte, and
MeloneyStack Rulhlman, Salisbury; sisters Elizabeth Stack Stanley, Clearwater, Fla.; and
three grandsons.
