Jimmy Burris
LEXINGTON
Born May 24, 1934, in Rowan County, Mr. Burris was
a son of the late Bertha Cauble and Arnold Burris, Lexington. A U.S. Army veteran, he was
owner/operator of Burris Insurance.
Mr. Burris was a charter member and past president
of the Central Lions Club and a former member of the Linwood Lions Club. He had also
served as zone chairman and region chairman. He was a life member of the N.C. Lions
Foundation, which presented him the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was a member of Becks
United Church of Christ.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include
wife Corinne Briggs Burris; son Mary Burris, Lexington; brother Franklin Burris,
Greensboro; and sister Hazel Burris Fritts, Lexington.
Services: 4 p.m. Sunday, Becks United Church of
Christ., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Mel Palmer and the Rev. Banks Sheppard. Burial, church
cemetery.
Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Davidson Funeral Home. At
other times the family will be at the home.

Junius Atwood Craven Jr.
MONROE Junius Atwood Craven Jr., 78, Hayne Street, died Wednesday
(Jan. 12, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, after a short illness.
Born Aug. 10, 1921, in Davie County, Mr. Craven
was a son of the late Bessie Penery and Junius A. Craven. A graduate of the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he was a retired accountant with the Coca-Cola Co. in
Asheville. He had also worked for Sealtest Food.
A member of Centenary United Methodist Church,
Winston-Salem, Mr. Craven was a member of several accounting organizations.
Survivors include sons David and John Craven, both
of Raleigh; daughter Ann Craven, Winston-Salem; sisters Kathleen Craven, Salisbury,
Dorothy Felts, Winston-Salem, and Helen Lockhart, Monroe; and two grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Sunday, Rose Cemetery,
Mocksville, conducted by the Rev. Harland Creech. The body will be cremated.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials: Charity of the donors choice.

Rad Foster Dedmon
Rad Foster Dedmon, 81, Salisbury, died Thursday
(Jan. 13, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 2, 1918, in Davie County, Mr. Dedmon was
a son of the late Sallie Foster and Herbert Marshall Dedmon. He was educated in the Davie
County schools.
A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, he landed
on Day 1 of the Normany invasion. He also served in the Korean War and served two terms of
duty in the Vietnam War. Mr. Dedmon was owner/operator of Dedmon Sewing Machine Co.
He attended No Creek Primitive Baptist Church in
Davie County. He was a member of the Spencer Moose Lodge, the VFW and Spencer American
Legion Post No. 241, where he had served as commander and chief. He served on the athletic
board of American Legion baseball and coached girls basketball at Spencer School. He was a
former member of the Spencer Jaycees.
He is survived by a brother, George Dedmon,
Ringgold, Ga., and a sister, Addie Henderson, Salisbury.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Lyerly Funeral
Homes James C. Lyerly Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Claude Aldridge. Members of
Spencer Moose Lodge will sit in a group. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park, with military
graveside rites conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Council.

Roger Dale Eudy
ALBEMARLE Roger Dale Eudy, 55, 1630 Maple St., died Friday (Jan. 4,
2000) at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte.
Born April 29, 1944, in Stanly County, Mr. Eudy
was a son of the late Esther Irene Lambert and Floyd James Eudy. He worked in quality
control at Eudy Cabinet Manufacturing.
A member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, he
was active with the United Methodist Men. He sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and
served on the administrative council.
Survivors include wife Carolyn Thompson Eudy,
Albemarle; son Terry Wayne Eudy, Badin; brother Michael Floyd Eudy, Stanfield; sisters
Kathy Fitzgerald and Sheila Eudy, both of Albemarle; and two granddaughters.
Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Tabernacle United
Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dan Lyons. Burial, Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Sip Hudson Hart
MOORESVILLE The funeral will be today for Sip Hudson Hart, 79, Catalina
Drive, who died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000) at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.
Born May 19, 1920, in Rockingham, Mr. Hart was a
son of the late Sip Hudson and Hattie Campbell Hart. He had retired after 15 years with
Hoechst-Celanese, now KoSa. A veteran of World War II, he served in both the U.S. Army and
the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Mooresville Moose Lodge 2012.
Survivors include wife Ruth Karriker Hart; son Dr.
Lewis T. Karriker, Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter Carol Hart Oliphant, Mount Ulla; four
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: 2 p.m. today, Cavin Funeral Home Chapel,
conducted by his son, Dr. Lewis T. Karriker. Burial, Vanderburg United Methodist Church

Allen Carson Miller
KANNAPOLIS Allen Carson Miller, 75, 512 Coach St., died Wednesday
(Jan. 13, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Aug. 6, 1924, in Ashe County, he was a son of
the late Clove and Spencer Miller. Retired due to disability from Johnson Manufacturing
Co., Charlotte, he was a charter member of Charity Baptist Church.
His wife, Margie Christine Miller, preceded him in
death.
Survivors include son Dale Miller, Kannapolis;
daughter Ann M. Hurd, Kannapolis; stepmother Mae Miller, Delaware, Md.; half brother Jerry
Miller, Jefferson; half sisters Jane Farrington, Jefferson, Maxie Miller, Wilbar, and Judy
Long, Conwingo, Md.; stepbrother Richard Faw, Delaware, Md.; stepsister Helen Sullen,
Delaware, Md.; and one grandson.
