Highway 52 N., died Monday (Jan. 10, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
Born June 13, 1907, in Stanly County, Mrs. Almond
was a daughter of the late John and Ella Heglar Yow. A member of First Street United
Methodist Church, she had retired from Wiscassett Mill Co.
Her husband, Grover C. Almond, died April 19,
1976. A son, Jerry C. Almond, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter Louise Hardister,
Albemarle; brother Dewey Ray Yow, Richfield; sister Pauline Sells, Albemarle; three
grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, First Street United
Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. David J.Colson. The body will be placed in the
church at 1:30. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park.

Dark, 59, Salisbury, who died Thursday (Jan. 6, 2000) at her home after a period of
declining health.
Born June 11, 1940, in Long Island, N.Y., Miss
Dark was a daughter of the late Andrew William and Irene Ellen Carr Dark. Educated in the
Long Island schools, she was a Catholic. She had worked as a bookkeeper for several
grocery chains prior to her retirement.
Survivors include sister Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) M.
Kitlar, Bethlehem,Pa.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Juanita
Fesperman; a son; two daughters; brother John Phillip, China Grove, N.C.; and sisters
Helen Cranford, Lois Beaver, Edna Upton and Francis Detta Moss, all of
Rockwell, N.C.
Sunnie Kimmer Harrington
CHARLOTTE Sunnie Kimmer Harrington, 91,
5939 Reddman Road, died Monday (Jan. 10, 2000) at the Brian Center, Charlotte.
Born March 31, 1908, in Stanly County, Mrs.
Harrington was a daughter of the late Gilbert and Mattie Russell Kimmer. Retired from
Wiscassett Mill Co., she was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Her husband, Fred L. Harrington, died Aug. 20,
1980.
Survivors include son Wade Harrington, Charlotte;
daughters Marie Clark, Kannapolis, and Marlene Huneycutt, Cornelius; sister Cordelia
Crowell, Albemarle; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.

Margaret Sally Huneycutt Hinson, 78, 202 N. Meriah St., who died Sunday (Jan.
9, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after a short illness.
Born April 7, 1921, in Stanly County, Mrs. Hinson
was a daughter of the late Lester and Minnie Smith Huneycutt. She had retired from
CannonMills, Plant 1, No. 6 weave room, after 40 years with the company. She was a member
of West Oakboro Baptist Church, Oakboro.
Her husband, Wade Hampton Hinson, died in 1981. A
son, Ronald Wade Hinson, died in 1977.
Survivors include son Larry E. Huneycutt,
Kannapolis; brother Earl Pete Huneycutt, Albemarle; sisters Lucille Smith
Poplin, Albemarle, and Odessa Huneycutt, Charlotte; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

Dick Millsaps, 80, 825 Cooper Road, who died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at his home
after two years of declining health and several weeks of serious illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1919, in Iredell County, Mr.
Millsaps was a son of the late William Parks and Bertha Gwindola Rupard Millsaps. He
attended Central School in Iredell County and was a member of China Grove Church of God.
He owned and operated a taxi service, a service station, Tonys Billiards and several
Snowball concessions.
Survivors include wife Bettie Hill Millsaps; sons
Tony Millsaps, Wilmington, and Floyd Wade Millsaps, Tampa, Fla.; daughter Gail Millsaps

CoCo Neely, 44, 314 E. 143rd St., Bronx, N.Y., a former Rowan County resident,
who died Tuesday (Jan. 4, 2000) at Jacobi Hospital in Bronx after three years of declining
health.
Born May 26, 1955, in New York City, Mr. Neely was
the son of Phyllis Neely Thomside, Salisbury. He attended Monroe Street School and
graduated from the New York public schools.
He had worked for the New York Department of
Social Services and New York Taxi and Limo Service. A member of All Souls Church in New
York, he attended Millers ChapelAME Zion Church while living in Rowan County.
He was reared by his grandparents, the late Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Leroy, who lived in Salisbury.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, St. Luke Baptist
Church, conducted by the Rev. Arthur Heggins. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation: None. The body may be viewed at the
church Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. At other times, the family will be at the home of his

The funeral will be Wednesday for Edith File
Parks, 75, Salisbury, who died Sunday (Jan. 9, 2000) at her home.
Born May 8, 1924, in Rowan County, Mrs. Parks was
a daughter of the late Chiles and Fannie Canup File. Educated in the Rowan County schools,
she had retired from Cartex Mills. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the
Lula Butner Sunday School Class.
Her first husband, Reather Reid, died Nov. 30,
1971, and her second husband, Marvin Parks, died Aug. 26, 1987.
Survivors include son David L. Reid, of the home;
stepsons Dale Parks, Concord, and Larry Parks, St. Louis, Mo.; stepdaughter Shirley
Dankle, St. Louis, Mo.; brothers Francis File, Spartanburg, S.C., and Herbert File, Long
Oak, Texas; and five step-grandchildren.

Dorothy Mae Tedder
LEXINGTON The funeral will be today for
Dorothy Dot Church Tedder, 71, Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of
Forest Hill Road, who died Saturday (Jan. 8, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center,
Salisbury.
Born Nov. 15, 1928, in Dotham County, Ala., Mrs.
Tedder was a daughter of the late Samuel B. and Ethel Brazel Church. A former assistant
manager for Howard Johnson Restaurant, she was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy
in Lexington.
Her husband, Linville Bean Tedder, died Oct. 24,
1998. Two daughters, Glenda Dean and Donna Tedder, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Mrs. Larry (Brenda)
Rummage, Woodstock, Ga., and Mrs. Rick (Phyllis) Comer, Linwood; sisters Linda Saunders
and Frances Perkins, both of Halifax, Va.; eight grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Services were to be held at 11 this morning at
Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Lyndon Johnson and the Rev. Bruce Langley

Charles S. Templeton
CHINA GROVE The funeral will be Wednesday
for Charles Stephens Templeton, 86, 6939 Roswell Road N.E., Atlanta, a native of China
Grove, who died Friday (Jan. 7, 2000) at Haven Hospice House, Atlanta.
Born May 27, 1913, Mr. Templeton was a son of the
late George Jesse and Roxie Sechler Templeton. A graduate of China Grove High School, he
received a bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and
a masters degree in school administration fromColumbia University. At UNCCH, he was
a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Mu Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
He taught school in Fayetteville, Durham and
Chapel Hill, as well as at Mississippi State College for Women. He also served as chief
administrator for Good Samaritan Hospital in Charlotte and at St. Agnes Hospital in
Raleigh and as an administrator at Community Hospital, Miami, Fla.
He had also worked as a hospital analyst for
Medical Care Mission for the state of North Carolina and held administrative positions in
the state health departments of North Carolina and Georgia.
Mr. Templeton was a first lieutenant in the U.S.
Army Air Force when he served from 1942 to 1946. He was a former member of St. Marks
Lutheran Church, China Grove.
Survivors include sisters Lucille T. Ritchie and
Mildred E. Templeton, both of China Grove.

Born April 15, 1910, in Greenville, S.C., Mr.
Wilson was a son of the late Henry Thomas and Carrie Vaughn Wilson. Educated in the
Easley, S.C., schools, he had worked as plumber, electrician and carpenter for residential
housing. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, Easley, S.C.
Survivors include wife Bessie Mae Welborn Wilson,
whom he married Nov. 5, 1931; son Dewey Wilson, Salisbury; half sister Evelyn Bates, Vero
Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
