Scooter: A Big Mac attack

BY RONNIE GALLAGHER
SALISBURY POST

MOUNTULLA— Scooter Sherrill has never been a Boston Celtics fan but he may turn into one once he plays in the hallowed city on the Celtics home court.

Scooter is a McDonald’s All-American.

It was made official Monday night at halftime of the Rutgers-UConn game on ESPN when the Eastern All-Stars were announced. The Western All-Stars were named during Game 2.

The McDonald’s Classic is set for March 29 in the Fleet Center. Scooter will also compete in the 3-point shooting contest and the dunk contest.

“I feel good about it,” he said. “It’s a situation of playing with the best players in the country against the best players in the country. So it makes me feel I’m one of the best in the country.”

The West Rowan star has watched the McDonald’s game since he was in the seventh grade and has always dreamed of playing in it. So he says he has the right mindset.

“I’m going out to play hard,” he said. “Everybody’s going to be watching. So I’m not going to clown around and try to get fancy. I’m going to try and be real productive.”
