Pauline Petty Hendrix

KANNAPOLIS —Pauline Petty Hendrix, 77, 1008 E. 10th St., died Thursday (Feb. 17, 2000) at Avante of Concord.

Born Nov. 21, 1922, in Dahlonega, Ga., Mrs. Hendrix was a daughter of the late Nathaniel and Manda Kincaid Petty. She had retired from the card room at Fieldcrest Cannon Mills.

Survivors include husband Jerry Hendrix; three sisters; and one brother.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. Saturday, Carolina Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Ted Hendrix.

Visitation: None. The family will be at the home of her sister-in-law, Pauline Ross, 711 Hillside Road.

Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge.

Jenna Turner Lancaster

MOUNT ULLA — Jenna Lee Turner Lancaster, 54, Mount Ulla, died Wednesday (Feb. 16, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Born Jan. 29, 1946, in Mooresville, Mrs. Lancaster was the daughter of Jack Turner, Mooresville, and the late Jenna Lee Deal Turner.

Survivors, in addition to her father, include husband Eddie O. Lancaster; sons William Tevepaugh, Jacksonville, and Richard Tevepaugh, Mocksville; daughter Denise Bush, Mount Ulla; brother Jack Turner Jr., Raleigh; sisters Barbara Carol Ninteau, Kannapolis, Vickie Matte, Pelham, N.H., and Jewell Kay Turner, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; stepdaughter Tammy Lancaster, Mount Ulla; stepsons Jason, Brian, Ricky and Neal Lancaster, all of Statesville; and 10 grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday,Cavin Funeral Home Chapel, Mooresville, conducted by the Rev. Charles Patton.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home.

 

Dr. James Harold Loman

The funeral will be Saturday for James Harold Loman, 82, 1135 Briarwood Terrace, who died Thursday (Feb. 17, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born Sept. 27, 1917, in Guilford County, Mr. Loman was the son of the late Robert Howard and Alma Mae Wrenn Loman. He was a graduate of People’s Bible College,Greensboro, and received his doctorate fromClarksville School of Theology, Clarksville, Tenn., in 1953.

A licensed funeral director in the state of North Carolina since 1945, he owned and operated Loman’s Funeral Home in Greensboro and Gibsonville in the 1940s. He was a pastor and an evangelist in the Wesleyan Church for 62 years and director of Lights of Spiritual Guidance Radio Broadcasters for 62 years.

He was a charter member of the Iron Dukes Club at Duke University and a chaplain in the Civil Air Patrol, Salisbury Chapter. Loman was appointed by the governor of Georgia, Joe Frank Harris, to his staff as lieutenant colonel and aide de camp on Jan. 11, 1983.

Survivors include wife Pearl Elizabeth Crabtree Loman, whom he married March 20, 1937; sons James Larry Loman, San Antonio,Texas, the Rev. Richard Lynn Loman and Edward Leslie Loman, both of Salisbury, and the Rev. Harold Lane Loman, Greensboro; daughter Janice Marie Allman, Burlington; sisters Eula Bryson, High Point, Rachel Rice,Greensboro, and Maybeth Scruggs, Wilmington; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Trinity Wesleyan Church, conducted by the Rev. Ernest Mullins, pastor, the Rev. Lane Loman, the Rev. Richard Loman and the Rev. Max Allman, pastor, People’s Memorial Christian Church, Burlington. Burial, Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro.

Visitation: 5-8 tonight at the church. At other times the family will be at the home of son Leslie Loman, 1210 Landover Drive.

Summersett Funeral Home is in charge.

Eva Mae Stubbs McManus

KANNAPOLIS — The funeral will be Saturday for Eva Mae Stubbs McManus, 91, formerly of 705 Irene Ave., who died Wednesday (Feb. 16, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.

Born Sept. 1, 1908, in Gibson, Mrs. McManus was a daughter of the late C.W. and Lula Barrington Stubbs. A homemaker, she was a member of First Wesleyan Church. In her earlier years she had worked at Terry Products Inc.

Her husband, Ney C. McManus, died March 30, 1999. A son, Calvin S. McManus, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include sister Nell Stubbs, Greensboro; brother C.W. Stubbs, Kannapolis; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Dr. Forbis Kivett. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight at the funeral home. At other times the family will be at the home on Irene Avenue.

Priscilla Johnson Toms

The funeral will be Monday for Priscilla Jane Johnson Toms, 84, 1140 Laurel St., who died Wednesday (Feb. 16, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Shady Grove Baptist Church, East Spencer, conducted by the Rev. John G. Gaston. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 12:30 p.m. Monday at the church. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Mrs. Dennis (Charlene) Wilks, 204 S. Lloyd St.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home in charge.
