Phillip Warren BargerROCKWELL
The funeral will be Wednesday for Phillip Warren Barger, 54, Rockwell, who died
Sunday (Feb. 13, 2000) at Brightmoor Nursing Center, Salisbury, after a period of
declining health.
Born July 4, 1945, in Baltimore, Mr. Barger was a
son of the late Warren Wade and Margaret Corn Barger. A 1966 graduate of East Rowan High
School, he received a degree in word processing from Salisbury Business College in 1989.
Mr. Barger had retired from Cannon Mills after 17
years as a time keeper and office manager. He was a lifelong member of Faith Baptist
Church, where he was a deacon. He was also a former Sunday school teacher and a former
secretary of the Sunday school.
He was a member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge
657 and Faith Civitian Club, where he was past president and secretary.
Survivors include brother Ronald V. Barger,
Rockwell.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday,Faith Baptist Church,
conducted by the Rev.Charles Brawley. Faith Civitans will be seated as a group. The body
will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery.

Charles I. Caddell
LEXINGTON Charles Ivey Caddell, 85,
Woodcrest Drive, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem,
after an illness of three weeks.
Born Jan. 16, 1915, in Moore County, Mr. Caddell
had retired as a supervisor with the Lexington post office. He had served in the U.S. Army
during World War II.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church,
where he was superintendent of Sunday school and a Sunday school teacher in the youth
department. He was also a former deacon and elder. He was a member of American Legion Post
8.
Survivors include wife Doris JacksonCaddell; and
son Charles H. Caddell, Lexington.

Church, conducted by Dr. Denny Sebesan and the Rev. Steve Lindsley. Burial, Lexington City

Cherry Coon
LEXINGTON Cherry Cabell Coon, 71, 503
Bellwood Drive, died Sunday (Feb. 13, 2000) at her home.
Born March 25, 1928, in Miami, Fla., Mrs. Coon was
a daughter of the late John R. and Gay Cherry Cabell. A graduate of Boyden High School,
she had also attended Catawba College, the WMU Training School and Southern Baptist
Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky.
She and her husband of 50 years, Dr.D. Hoke Coon
Jr., whom she married Dec. 27, 1949, served churches in Salisbury, Southern Pines and
Forest City before going to First Baptist Church,Lexington, where they served 27 years.
A Womens Missionary Union Group is named in
her honor at First Baptist. She was a former member of the Charity League of Lexington.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include son
David H. Coon, Lexington; sister Gerry Cabell Spencer, Salisbury; and a grandson.

Heath Griffin
LANDIS Henry Heath Griffin, 68, 602 E.
Garden St., died Monday (Feb. 14, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord.
Born Sept. 11, 1931, in Union County, Mr. Griffin
was a son of the late Glenn and Mae Smith Griffin. He had worked as an electrical
supervisor with the city of Landis and with Williams Electric Co. He attended Jackson Park
Pentecostal Holiness Church.
A son, Ricky Griffin, died in 1988, and a grandson
died in 1995.
Survivors include wife Levonda Jordan Griffin,
whom he married March 25, 1951; son Randy Griffin, Kannapolis; sisters Janet Horne, Cary,
Evelyn Sumner, Trinity, Norma Helms, Greenville, S.C., and Sherry Belk, Monroe; brothers
Smith Griffin, Larry Griffin and Glenn Griffin Jr., all of Monroe, and Brackie Griffin,
Marshville; two grandchildren; one step-grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and one
step-great-grandchild.

KANNAPOLIS The funeral will be Wednesday
for Randall Ray Randy Heath, 44, 5424 Irish Potato Road, who died Sunday (Feb.
13, 2000) at NorthEast Medical Center, Concord, after several years of declining health.
Born Jan. 26, 1956, in IredellCounty, Mr. Heath
was a son of Kenneth Ray Heath and Barbara Holloway Cilbrith, both of Kannapolis. He
briefly attended Auburn University, Alburn, Ala. He was assistant manager at Food World in
Lakeland, Fla., before becoming disabled in 1983.

Jessie Smith Bagwell
ALBEMARLE Jessie Lou Smith Bagwell, 86, 1436
Riley St., died Tuesday (Feb. 15, 2000) at Stanly Manor.
Born May 4, 1913, in Montgomery County, Mrs.
Bagwell was a daughter of the late Dexter and Ada Hall Smith. She had retired from
American and Efird Mills, where she was a winder and spinner. She was a member of
Lanes Chapel Methodist Church.
Her husband, Albert Lee Bagwell, preceded her in
death, as did sons Albert Lee Bagwell Jr., Jimmy Dwayne Bagwell and Roy Lee Bagwell.
Survivors include sons Harold Dean Bagwell and
Robert Dexter Tip Bagwell, both of Albemarle; daughters Gloria Elmetta
Patsy Bagwell and Deborah Debbie Hamilton, both of Albemarle;
sister Myrtle Smith Ridge, Albemarle; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
