Ronald Chan Broadway, 48, 1308 Long Street Extension, died Saturday (Feb. 5, 2000)
at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 4, 1951, in Salisbury, Mr. Broadway was
a son of the late Ralph Lane and Lillie Mae Furr Broadway. Friends knew him as
Broadway, and he enjoyed working on cars and playing with pets Stretch and
Schoog. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Diamond
Broadway; son R. Shane Broadway, Albemarle; daughter Heather Michelle Broadway, Albemarle;
sisters Julia Furr, Thomasville, Jeanette Westmoreland, Trinity, and Nancy Miller,
Albemarle; and two grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Hartsell Funeral
Homes Lefler Memorial Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Delane Burris and Darrell Furr.
Burial, Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Samuel W. Church
MOCKSVILLE Samuel W. Church, 70, Reavis
Road, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in
Winston-Salem.
Born Feb. 7, 1929, in Yadkin County, he was a son
of the late Mae McNew and Hamilton Church. He was a self-employed saw mill operator and a
Baptist.
Three children, Lonnie, Lester and Larry Church,
preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Holcomb Church;
sons Walter Church, Cooleemee, and Leslie Church, Statesville; sisters Georgia Graham,
Landis, Floreta Kane, California, and Martha Wilkins and Ruby Brannon, both of
Yadkinville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 8 tonight, Davie Funeral Service Chapel,
conducted by the Rev. Thomas Corbell. Burial 2 p.m. Monday, Liberty Baptist Church
cemetery.

Zeb V. Hearn Jr.
GRAHAM Zeb Vance Hearn Jr., 77, 512 Jones
St., died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill after a
critical illness of two months.
Daughter Leslie Bea Hearn Rich lives in Faith.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, First Baptist Church,
conducted by the Rev. Dr. Paul Lane, pastor. Burial, Graham Memorial Park.
Visitation: 4-6 p.m. today, McClure Funeral Home,
and other times at the residence.

Emmie Horton Womack
MATTHEWS Emmie Hearne Horton Womack, 88,
600 Fullwood Lane, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at Carrington Place.
Born Sept. 10, 1911, in Albemarle, she was a
daughter of the late Harris Leonidas Horton Sr. and Ethel Inez Hearne Horton.
Mrs. Womack was a homemaker and graduate of
Albemarle City Schools and Duke University. She belonged to Myers Park United Methodist
Church, where she taught Sunday School and was past president of the Aldergate Sunday
School Class. She grew up Central United Methodist Church in Albemarle.
Her husband, James Hubert Womack, preceded her in
death.
Survivors include son James Horton Womack Jr.,
Monroe; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Hartsell Funeral
