Rollo Jones, a native of Salisbury, N.C., died Friday (Jan. 28, 2000).
Mr. Jones was employed by the Chickasaw Police
Department for 33 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lora Dee
Jones, and a son, David Lee Jones.
Survivors include daughters Elizabeth Grizzle and
Ruth G. Jones, both of Chickasaw, and Dee Jones, Fairhope; son Richard Jones, Spanish
Fort; sisters Mamie Dion and Lucille Barker, both of Hickory, N.C.; brother Richard
DickJones, Granite Quarry, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held Monday at Chapel of Radney
Funeral Home, Saraland. Burial, Mobile Memorial Gardens, Mobile.

GOLD HILL JamesEdward Correll, 65, Gold
Hill, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at his home after 12 years of declining health.
Born March 10, 1934, in Rowan County, Mr. Correll
was a son of the late Maude Barger and Franklin Correll. Educated in the Rowan County
schools, he worked in maintenance at Tidwell Mobile Home. He was a life member of the
Rockwell Amvets and Vanhoy Sells VFW.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian
Fesperman Correll, whom he married April 14, 1979.
Survivors include son James Edward Correll II,
Gold Hill; daughters Diane C. Kluttz, Mount Pleasant, Tonia Anne Helms, Concord, and
Starlet Dwan Stillers, Sanford; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

MOUNT ULLA Allison James Dixon, 71, Back
Creek Church Road, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at his residence.
Born July 7, 1928, in Henderson, Mr. Dixon was a
son of the late Edward Hope and Jessie James Dixon. Educated at N.C. State University, he
had retired as a tobacco buyer for Imperial Tobacco Co. Great Britain and Ireland LTD
after 42 years with the company.
Following his retirement, he was a dispatcher at
Roto-Rooter. Mr. Dixon was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Back
Creek Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include wife Joyce Harrison Dixon, whom
he married March 15, 1951; daughter Josephine D. Hawes, Mount Ulla; and two grandchildren.

daughter of the late Olsie Pope and Levonie Rose. Educated in the Guilford County schools,
she was a homemaker and a member of Sandy Ridge AME Zion Church, Landis.
Her husband, Joseph H. Downs Jr., died March 31,
1980.

Born March 7, 1927, in Clark County, Ga., Mr.
Hatley was the son of the late Ethel Sides Hatley Hunsucker and the late William T.
Hatley. Educated in the Cabarrus County schools, he had retired as a security guard for
Phillip Morris.
He is survived by a half brother, Jerry D.

KANNAPOLIS Rosa Nash Karriker, 86, formerly
of North Poplar Avenue, died Friday (Feb. 4, 2000) at Brian Center Health and Retirement,
Concord. She was making her home with her daughter, Gayle A. Karriker of Harrisburg.
Born March 8, 1913, in Union County, Mrs. Karriker
was a daughter of the late Carrie Byrd and H.E. Nash. She had retired from the washcloth
department of Cannon Mills, Plant 1,after 43 years with the company.
Following retirement, she worked for six years in
the cafeteria at J.W. Cannon High School. She was a member of Kannapolis West A Church of
God, where she was a member of the Queen Esther Sunday School Class.
Her husband, Vard Coy Karriker, died in 1960.
Survivors include another daughter Patsy K. Self,
also of Harrisburg; son Kenneth R. Karriker,Kannapolis; four grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren.

Born on Dec. 3, 1914, in Stanly County, he was a
son of Dora Earnhardt and Henry Madison Ragsdale.
He had retired from Lorch Plumbing & Heating
Company as a sheet metal mechanic. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Europe during
World War II.
Mr. Ragsdale was a member of Central United
Methodist Church.
