WINSTON-SALEM Ernest Gwyn Jr., 71, of 1827 North
Dunleith Ave., died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000)at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical
Center.
Born Sept. 28, 1928, in Havico, W.Va., Mr. Gwyn was a U.S.
Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
Survivors include wife Ethel Mae Gwyn, Salisbury; sons
James, Donald and Richard Gwyn, all of Salisbury, and Alonzo Gwyn, Statesville; daughters
Fannie Hayes, Midway, Bernita Mack, Winston-Salem, Nancy Montgomery, Charlotte, and
Cynthia Gwyn, Cleveland; sister Nancy Gwyn, River Beach, Fla.; 21 grandchildren; and 17
great-grandchildren.
Services: 4 today, Russell Funeral Home, Winston-Salem.

MOCKSVILLE Emma Hall, 64, of Davie Place, died Monday
(Dec. 18, 2000)at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born in Davie County, Miss Hall was a daughter of the late
John and Savannah Hall.
Survivors include sisters Elizabeth Rowe, Brooklyn, N.Y.,
Mildred Kemp, Josephine Ijames and Ola Mae Ijames, all of Mocksville, and Dorothy Graham,
Winston-Salem; brothers James Henry Hall, High Point, John Hall, Boston, Mass., and
William Hall, Kernersville; and companion Melvin Whitlock.

James Thomas Jenkins
KANNAPOLIS The funeral will be Thursday for James
Thomas Jenkins, 77, a resident of Concord Nursing Center and Avante of Concord, who died
Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at Avante of Concord after a period of declining health.
Born July 3, 1923, in Chesterfield, S.C., Mr. Jenkins was a
son of the late Carl and Ellen Jackson Jenkins. He was employed with Fieldcrest-Cannon,
Inc., Plant 1 for many years until his retirement. He was a member of Concord Lake Baptist
Church, Kannapolis, and a resident of Kannapolis for most of his life.
Survivors include son James Thomas Horne, Greer, S.C.;
daughters Libby Stegner, Dallas, Texas, Bonnie Freeze, Albemarle, and Susan Price,
Rockwell; brother William Jenkins, Kannapolis; sisters Gladys and Ella Pittman, both of
Kannapolis, and Myrtle Herring, Rock Hill, S.C.; three half-brothers; five half-sisters;
18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Lottie Ma Jack Johnson
Lottie Ma Jack Perkin Johnson, 91, 619
Lafayette Circle, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, after a
period of declining health.
Born March 20, 1909, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Johnson was a
daughter of the late William and Katie Faggart Perkin. Educated in Cabarrus County public
schools, she was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of United House of Prayer For
All People.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Johnson,
who died in 1982, and a daughter, Mary Wright Brooker, who died Aug. 21, 1995.
Survivors include brother Howard Perkins, Salisbury;
sisters Geneva Miller and Pearlie Johnson, both of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; 26
great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 3 p.m. Saturday, United House of Pray For All
People, conducted by Elder M. Oakley. Burial, Oakwood Cemetery.

EAST SPENCER The funeral will be Friday for James
Jimmy Braddock Kelly, 63, 32 47th St. S.E., Washington, D.C., who died Monday
(Dec. 18, 2000)at his mothers home.
Born June 22, 1937, in East Spencer, Mr. Kelly was a son of
Odessa Hambrick Kelly, East Spencer, and the late H.G. Kelly. A graduate of Dunbar High
School, he worked in highway construction.
Survivors include companion Barbara McAfee, of the home;
brother Joe Louis Kelly, Monticello, N.Y.; sisters Emma K. Graham, Ethel K. Evans and Ruby
Kelly, all of East Spencer, Mary K. Lee, Union, N.J., and Doris K. Allen, Salisbury.

Hellen Hahn Ringler
ALBEMARLE Hellen Hahn Ringler, 57, 40966 Mount View
Church Road, died Tuesday (Dec. 19, 2000)at her residence.
Born Sept. 6, 1943, in Stanly County, Mrs. Ringler was a
daughter of Meredith and Ruby Harward Hahn, both of Albemarle. A 1961 graduate of New
London High School, she was a homemaker and a member of Anderson Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include husband Ivan
K. Ringler, of the home; son Mike Shaw, Albemarle; daughters Chris S. Hicks and Dell S.
Willis, both of New London; brother Marvin Hahn, Albemarle; sister Phyllis Helms,
Albemarle; and three grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Anderson Grove Baptist Church,
conducted by the Rev. Ron Huneycutt. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30.
