Joyce Tipton Ball

Joyce Tipton Ball, 53, formerly of Advance, died Thursday (Dec. 14, 2000) at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Born Dec. 28, 1946, in Richmond, Va., she was a daughter of the late Hilda Chandler and David J. Tipton. A teacher assistant for the Davie County Schools, she was a member of Blaise Baptist Church.

Survivors include son Brad Ball, Mocksville; daughter Lesa Dowell, Advance; sister Carol Hendrix, Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren.

Services: Graveside, 11 a.m. today, Blaise Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Sellers.

Memorials: Multiple Sclerosis Association, 2211 W. Meadowview Road, Suite 30, Greensboro, NC 27407.

Aubry D. Beck

CLEVELAND — Aubry D. Beck, 85, 14785 Cool Springs Road, died Friday (Dec. 15, 2000) at his home after a period of declining health.

Born Jan. 31, 1915, in Rowan County, Mr. Beck was a son of the late Alice Snider and S.B. Beck. Educated in the Rowan County schools, he was a member of Gay’s Chapel Baptist Church, Salisbury.

He had retired from Burlington Industries in Cooleemee, where he worked as a supervisor. He later worked for Hall Manufacturing in Rowan County.

His wife, Louise Osborne Beck, died Nov. 19, 1999.

Survivors include son Roy Beck, Lenoir; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Sunday, South River United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Brenda M. Newman and the Rev. JimMiles. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: In the fellowship hall following the funeral service.

Currie Ransom Cates Jr.

SPENCER — Currie Ransom Cates Jr., 82, 221 Earnhardt Ave., died Friday (Dec. 15, 2000) at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

Summersett Funeral Home, Salisbury, is in charge.

 

Della Ann Clark

Della Ann Clark, 62, Salisbury, died Friday (Dec. 15, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, is in charge.

 

Elin Lundgren

Elin Jacobsson Lundgren, 98, Salisbury, died Thursday (Dec. 14, 2000) at her home after a period of declining health.

Born Nov. 27, 1902, in Oland, Sweden, Mrs. Lundren was a daughter of the late Hulda Amelia Jacobsson and Herman Emmanuel Lundgren. Educated in the schools of Manhattan, N.Y., she received her nursing training at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey.

Lundgren was formerly a private nurse in the home of Charles A. Lindbergh. She later served as administrator at a nursing home in Tenafly, N.J.

Lundgren came to the United States through Ellis Island and her name is engraved on the wall there. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Englewood Hospital Alumni Association..

Her husband, Ruel Haggart, died in 1933.

Survivors include daughter Dorothie L. Randall, Salisbury; three grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Services: 6 p.m. today, chapel of St. John’s Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. John B. Tucker, associate pastor. Inurnment at church columnbarium.

Visitation: None. The family will remain at the residence.

‘Jackie’ Morris Morton

NORWOOD — Lois “Jackie” Mae Morris Morton, 74, 36654 Silver Springs Road, died Friday (Dec. 15, 2000).

Born Jan. 5, 1926, in Montgomery County, Mrs. Morton was a daughter of the late Flora Dennis and John Morris. A retired circuit breaker assembler for Federal Pacific, she was amember of Silver Springs Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband Lester Randall Morton and twin sons Jimmie and Johnnie Morton.

Survivors include son Jerry R. Morton, Norwood; daughter Brenda M. Swaringen, Norwood; brother John Louis Morris, Albemarle; sisters Elizabeth Talbert, Albemarle, Pauline Thompson, Ellerbe, and Bertha Voncannon, Ramseur; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday, Silver Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Dennis Helms. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m. today, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.

Memorials: Silver Springs Baptist Church, 16052 Highway 138, Norwood, NC 28128.

 

Barbara White Thomas

MOCKSVILLE — The funeral for Barbara White Thomas will be held Sunday.

Services: 3 p.m. Sunday, Graham Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Melvin Kessler. Burial, Palmetto Cemetery.

Visitation: 2:30-3 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.

 

Georgiana Thompson

Georgiana Davis Thompson, 80, Salisbury, died Friday (Dec. 15, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
