Chase Allen Blanton

ROCKWELL – Chase Allen Robert Blanton, stillborn infant son of Billy Wayne and Kelly Nontell Blanton, died Monday (Dec. 4, 2000) at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include sister Hailey Jackson; maternal grandparents Missy and Scott Schrader, Concord; paternal grandfather and wife Roger and Mae Blanton, Shelby; paternal grandmother Rosetta Blanton, Charlotte; maternal great-grandparents Robert and Carol Smith, Concord.

Services:A private memorial service will be held at the home of the great-grandparents, Robert and Carol Smith, Concord.

Visitation:4-8 tonight, 1055 Percy Lane, Rockwell.

Lessie Polk Butler

ALBEMARLE —Lessie Polk Butler, 97, 661 Colston St., died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000) at Autumn Care Nursing Center, Biscoe.

Born June 28,1903, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Butler was a daughter of the late Elias and Sallie Reid Polk. Educated in Cabarrus County public schools, Mrs. Butler was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Little Zion AME Zion Church, New London, and was a deaconess, a member of the usher board, and the stewardess board.

Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Butler Jr.

She is survived by a foster daughter, Pauline Hunter of Albemarle.

Services: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Mount Zion AME Zion Church, Mount Gilead, conducted by the Rev. Raymon Mitchell, pastor. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 2 p.m. Friday, at the church.

Jettie Mozelle Chunn

MOCKSVILLE — Jettie Mozelle Oakley Chunn, 89, of U.S. Highway 601-South, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000)at her residence, after a period of illness.

Mrs. Chunn was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons George F. Chunn, Winston-Salem, and Danny Andre’ Chunn, of the home; daughters Barbara Chunn Brown, Greensboro, Phyllis Chunn Duncan, Statesville, and Zettie Chunn Phillips, Charlotte; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services:2 p.m. Friday, New Bethel Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Thomas White, the Rev. Rufus Wyatt and the Rev. Dennis Bishop. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 1 p.m. Friday, at the church.

Fannie Burger Clouser

Fannie Burger Clouser, 95, of Genesis Eldercare, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000) at her residence.

Born March 22, 1905, in Royalton, Pa., she was a daughter of the late David and Laura Bertha Coble Burger. Educated in Emmanus Orphans Home School, Pennsylvania, she was a homemaker and attended First Wesleyan Church, Kannapolis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervie Edward Clouser, who died Nov. 21, 1963, and a daughter, Margaret Clouser Carter, who Dec. 15, 1998.

Survivors include step-sister Helen B. Rothrock, Chambersburg, Pa.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services:Graveside, noon Friday, West Lawn Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Forbis Kivett.

Visitation:11-11:45 a.m. Friday, Linn-Honeycutt, China Grove. At other times the family will be at the home of a granddaughter, Donna Fowler, 406 Airport Road, Kannapolis.

Elnora Foote Eaton

ADVANCE — Elnora Foote Eaton, 100, of Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000)at her residence, after a period of illness.

Mrs. Eaton was a member of Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons Henry Eaton, Albemarle, and Odell Eaton, Mocksville; daughters Willie M. Wiseman, Rahway, N.J., Bessie Eaton, Advance, Queen McKnight, Winston-Salem, and Betty Jean Eaton, Mocksville; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services:2 p.m. Saturday, Cedar Creek Missionary Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Linville. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 1:15 p.m. Saturday, at the church.

George Goodman, 59, of Salisbury, died today (Dec. 13, 2000)in Greensboro.

CHINA GROVE — Clyde Russell Goodman, 71, 1035 Mount Moriah Church Road, died today (Dec. 13, 2000) at Rowan Regional Hospital.

Jesse Harrison

ALBEMARLE — Jesse Harrison, 76, 625 Mountain Place, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Born June 9, 1924, in Vance County, Mr. Harrison was a son of the late Bloomer and Eliza Lewis Harrison. Educated in the public schools of Vance County, Mr. Harrison was a retired commercial truck driver. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Badin, and was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacquelyn Harrison Starkes.

Survivors include wife Ida Prince Harrison, of the home; brother James Harrison, Henderson; and grandson Randy R. Starkes, of the home.

Services:2 p.m. Thursday, First Baptist Church, Badin, conducted by the Rev. Clifton Parker. Burial, Oak View Cemetery, New London.

Visitation: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, at the church.

Dr. Melvin K. Morgan, 70, of Salisbury, died today (Dec. 13, 2000) at the N.C.Lutheran Home.

Mary Hamby Pinnix

KANNAPOLIS — Mary Hamby Pinnix, 85, 109 Landmark Drive, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000)at Brian Center of Concord.

Born Jan. 5, 1915, in Wilkes County, she was a daughter of the late Henry Martin and Rebecca Spears Hamby. She was a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. of Winston-Salem and a member of Grace Baptist Temple, Winston-Salem.

Survivors include brothers Calvin Hamby, Orlando, Fla., and M.B. Hamby, Kannapolis; and sister-in-law Ellie Hamby Gregory, with whom she made her home.

Services:4 p.m. Thursday, Lady’s Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Curtis Parker. Entombment, Parkland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Winston-Salem.

Lena Mae Tyson

ALBEMARLE —Lena Mae Bloomfield Tyson, 82, of Washington Lane, died Saturday (Dec. 9, 2000)at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.

Born May 21, 1918, in Marlboro County, S.C., Mrs. Tyson was a daughter of the late Andrew Marshall and Anna Jane Dockery Bloomfield. Educated in Marlboro County, S.C., public schools, Mrs. Tyson was a domestic worker and attended several churches in the Albemarle area.

Mrs. Tyson was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Tyson.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Liles, Albemarle.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Saint Matthew United Church of God, Oakboro, conducted by Elder Henry Cobb, pastor. Burial, Fairview Church of God Cemetery, Burnsville.

Visitation:None.

Glenn Carmack Wilhelm

CLEVELAND — Glenn Carmack Wilhelm, 93, of Cleveland, died Monday (Dec. 11, 2000) at Brian Center, Statesville, after a period of declining health.

Born Sept. 19, 1907, in Rowan County, Mr. Wilhelm was a son of the late William White and Sallie Barber Wilhelm. Educated in Rowan County schools, he retired as a car salesman for the Lincoln dealerships during his years in Salisbury. He was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church, the vestry and had been a Sunday school superintendent.

Mr. Wilhelm was preceded in death by a son, Larry Wilhelm, who died April 11, 1994.

Survivors include wife Ethel Eudy Wilhelm, whom he married in Nov. 16, 1929; sons William Wilhelm, Ormond Beach, Fla., and John W. Wilhelm, Crawfordville, Ga.; daughters Irene W. Sherrill, Statesville, and Sallie W. Dillon, Cleveland; brother James C. Wilhelm, Albemarle; sisters Sarah Lyerly, Cleveland, Mary Helen Douglas, Salisbury, and Marie Padgett, Statesville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Christ Episcopal Church, Cleveland, conducted by the Rev. Harold Elsner, church pastor. Burial, family plot in the church cemetery.

Visitation: Following the services in the church’s parish house.

Memorials:Cemetery Fund, Christ Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 37, Cleveland, NC 27013.
