Janet Pinkston Flory
Janet Pinkston Flory, 67, 7130 Glenmore, Lambertville, Mich., formerly of Salisbury, died Wednesday in Toledo, Ohio, following an extended illness.
Born June 9, 1933 in Fort Sill, Okla., she was the daughter of the late Sarah Jenkins and David S. Sisco.
She received a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in interior design from Auburn University. An ASID interior designer, she had worked for Textile Products of Salisbury, Carol Fabric of Augusta, Ga., and Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
She was a member of Judson Baptist Church, Toledo, Ohio, and a former member of Salem Lutheran Church, Salisbury.
Survivors include husband James L. Flory; sons Larry E. Pinkston, Salisbury; Bob Pinkston, Maggie Valley; John Pinkston, Edgefield, S.C., and Bill Pinkston, Beech Island, S.C.; daughters Sue Pagel, Woodlands, Texas, Jill Warner, Brandon, Miss., and Kim Reardon, Amelia, Ohio; stepson Mike Flory, Conroe, Texas; and 10 grandchildren.
Services: Monday, 11 a.m., Christ United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Scott Ireland, pastor. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.

Iona C. House, 224 W. Lafayette St., died Friday in her home. She had been in declining health for several years.

‘Clint’ McIlwaine
Clinton “Clint” Grae McIlwaine, 78, 916 W. Horah St., died Thursday at Rowan Regional Medical Center after being seriously ill for several months.
Born Sept. 21, 1921, in East Spencer, he was the son of the late Ethel Hicklin and John H. McIlwaine.
A graduate of Dunbar High School and Livingstone College, he earned a master’s degree from Atlanta University. A retired educator and business owner, he attended Hood AME Zion Church and Mother Zion Church, New York City.
He was a member of Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church in East Spencer, where he was a trustee. A former Mason, he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
He is survived by daughter Barbara McGee Waters, Philadelphia; brother John A. McIlwaine, Washington D.C.; sisters Ethel Mae McIlwaine Hope, Washington, D.C., and Vera M. Moore, Salisbury; and one grandchild.
Services: Monday, 1 p.m., Southern City Tabernacle AME Zion Church, East Spencer, conducted by the Rev. Rollins Graham, pastor.

‘Preacher’ Morgan
ALBEMARLE — Mack Craig “Preacher” Morgan II, 84, 424 N. 10th St., died Friday at Stanly Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anson County on April 17, 1916, he was the son of the late Carrie Miller and Mack Craig Morgan.
He was president of Morgan Motor Co. and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Mabry Morgan.
Survivors include sons Mack Craig Morgan, Robert Terrel Morgan, Rodney Mabry Morgan and David Miller Morgan, all of Albemarle; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Sunday, 4 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Gus Feather officiating. Burial, Fairview Memorial Park.

Marguerite Rabe
ALBEMARLE — Marguerite Rabe, 96, died Friday at the Lutheran Home in Albemarle.
Born in Albemarle on Sept. 22, 1903, she was the daughter of the late James McKnight and Adie Whitfield Morrow. She was educated in the Albemarle schools and at Queens College, Charlotte. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church.
Her husband, Grady Thomas Rabe, died in 1980.
Survivors include son Grady Thomas “Tom” Rabe Jr., Albemarle; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services: Graveside, 2 p.m. Sunday, Fairview Memorial Park, conducted by the Rev. Gus Feather. The body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home today and Sunday until time for the service.

Addie Campbell Ridenhour
MOCKSVILLE — Addie Campbell Ridenhour, 77, Pine Ridge Road, died Thursday at Autmn Care of Mocksville.
Born March 16, 1923, in Davie County, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Shore and Clifford Campbell. A homemaker, she was a member of Cooleemee Presbyterian Church, Cooleemee.
Her husband, Otis Ridenhour, died June 14.
She is survived by son Walter Ridenhour, Advance; daughters Susan Morrison, Cleveland, and Joanne Allen, Mocksville; brothers Charles Campbell, Salisbury, and James Campbell, New Bern; sisters Lois Page, Williamsburg, Va., and Louise Aldridge of Rapid City, S.D.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

ALBEMARLE — Ruth Whitley Thompson, 86, 1620 Salisbury Road, died Thursday at Britthaven of the Piedmont.
Born May 5, 1914, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Frances Catherine Harkey and William Davis Whitley. She had retired as a sewing machine operator for Jefferies Mfg. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husband John B. Thompson.
Survivors include daughters Sharon T. Edwards, of the home, and Althea T. Robinson, Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers Arnold B. Whitley and William Eugene Whitley, both of Albemarle; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
