MOCKSVILLE — Estelle Chaffin Blackwelder, 88, Wagner Road, died Wednesday (Aug. 23, 2000) at her home.

Sandra Leigh Hawkins
SPENCER — The funeral will be Friday for Sandra Leigh Hawkins, 35, 928 Third St., who died Sunday (Aug. 20, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.
She was a member of Southern City AMEZion Church.

Pauline Heilig Kirk
The funeral will be Saturday for Pauline Heilig Kirk, 80, Salisbury, who died Wednesday(Aug. 23, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 17, 1920, in Rowan County, Mrs. Kirk is the daughter of the late Clayton N. and Annie Fortune Heilig. She was educated at Yost School in Rowan County.
Formerly employed with Cartex Mills and Sy Hart Sportswear, she had retired from Jeanette’s Maternities Manufacturing in 1980. She later worked part time at Faith Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the church and the Dora Earnhardt Sunday school class. She was also a member of Rowan Senior Citizens.
Her husband, Lester A. Kirk, died Jan. 29, 1976. Her twin sons also preceded her in death. Larry W. Kirk, died July 7, 1943, and Donald P. Kirk, died Jan. 4, 1944.
Survivors include son L. Allen Kirk, Salisbury; daughters Shirley K. Peeler, Patricia K. Morgan and Alice K. Riddle, all of Salisbury, and Brenda Ballew, Belmont; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Keith Copeland, pastor, and the Rev. Floyd Bost. Burial, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Summersett Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home.

Earl Eugene Litaker
ROCKWELL — Earl Eugene Litaker, 99, formerly of New London, died Tuesday (Aug. 22, 2000) at The Meadows of Rockwell Retirement Center.
Born Jan. 17, 1901, in China Grove, Mr. Litaker was a son of the late Penic Chester and Caroline Ross Litaker. He had retired as a planer operator for a lumber company and was a member of First Assembly of God.
His wife, Ila Biles Litaker, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sister Bessie Litaker Raper, Durham.
Services: Graveside, 11 a.m.Saturday, Bethel United Methodist Church cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Bill Baldwin.
Visitation: The body may be viewed on Friday and on Saturday prior to the time of the service at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle.
Clinton G. McIlwaine
Clinton G. McIlwaine, 78, 916 W. Horah St., died Thursday (Aug. 24, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Mae Chambers McMillan
STATESVILLE — Mae Helen Chambers McMillan, 50, 1033 Fourth St., died Monday (Aug. 21, 2000) at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, after an extended illness.
An Iredell County native, Mrs. McMillan was a sister of Margaret Hurlocker, Mooresville.
Services: 2 p.m. Friday, Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Elder Thomas Jackson. Burial, Mount Carmel Holiness Church cemetery, Houstonville.
Visitation: 7-8 tonight at the funeral home. A memory video will be viewed and a praise and worship celebration will be held tonight. At other times the family will be at the home of sister Mary and Isaac Knox, 835 Fifth St, Statesville.
Cecil C. Midgett
GREENSBORO — The funeral will be Saturday for Cecil C. Midgett, 69, 704 Meadowood Road, who died Monday (Aug. 21, 2000) at Moses Cone Hospital after several weeks of declining health.
Born May 14, 1931, in Columbia, N.C., Mr. Midgett was a son of the late Glenn Riddick and Gladys Midgett and stepson of the late Allie Riddick. He was educated in Columbia schools and was a graduate of Terrell County High School.
Mr. Midgett retired as a truck driver from Kahn Lumber Co., Queens, N.Y., and was a residential counselor at Bennett Family Care in Greensboro.
A former area resident, he was a member of Third Creek AME Zion Church, Cleveland, the Men’s Booster Club and Class No. 2. He was a Mason and a member of Order of Elks while a resident of New York and an avid bowler in a Greensboro bowling league.
Survivors include wife Dorothy Hall Midgett; sons Alphonso Midgett, Harvest, Ala., Ronnie Midgett, Bowie, Md., Cecil Midgett Jr., Silver Springs, Md., Boris Midgett, Portsmouth, Va., Anthony Midgett, Atlanta, Ga., and Henry Lee Midgett, St. Louis, Mo.; daughters Lisa Midgett, Charlotte, Cecilia Midgett-Jordan, Glen Burnie, Md., and LaBarbara Midgett, Texas; stepson Emery Partee IV, Brooklyn, N.Y.; stepdaughter Cynthia Partee, Jamaica, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services: 1 p.m. Saturday, Third Creek AME Zion Church, Cleveland, conducted by the Rev. Donnie Kent. Burial, church cemetery.
Visitation: 7-8: p.m. Friday, Mitchell & Fair Funeral Service, Salisbury.
Augusta McClure Sides
The funeral will be Saturday for Augusta McClure Sides, 83, 2165 Cauble Road, who died Wednesday (Aug. 23, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 25, 1916, in Rowan County, Mrs. Sides was a daughter of the late Walter and Nancy Miller Mesimer. She had retired from Rowan Cotton Mills and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday school class.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Grover McClure; daughters, Nancy Morgan and Phyllis Allen; and sons Bud McClure and George Perry.
Survivors include husband Robert Lee Sides; stepson Robert Lee Sides Jr., Salisbury; a son; stepdaughter Sara Sides Leazer, Salisbury; brother John Mesimer, California; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Summersett Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mark Loman, pastor, Gold Hill Wesleyan Church. Burial, Rowan Memorial Park.
Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times the family will be the home on Cauble Road and at the home of granddaughter, Patty Culp, 355 N. Fisherman Lane, with whom she resided during her declining health.
