Perry Carlton

Perry Carlton, 43, of Salisbury, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Lyerly Funeral Home is in charge.

 

Vera Rattz Corl

The funeral for Vera Rattz Corl, 88, The Meadows of Rockwell, will be held Tuesday. Mrs. Corl died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born April 3, 1912, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late H.H. and Sarah Foster Rattz. Educated in the Rowan County Schools, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Her first husband, Cecil Seamon, and her second husband, Lee Corl, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Peters Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Doug Hefner, pastor. Burial, church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.

Viola Little Gatton

KANNAPOLIS — Mary Viola Little Ingram Gatton, 85, 2207 Brantley Road, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Big Elm Nursing Center.

Born Feb. 20, 1915, in Taylorsville, Mrs. Gatton was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Texie Lippard Little. She had worked in the sheet department at Cannon Mills and had taught Sunday School at Shady Brook Baptist Church. Before she became a homebound member, she had been active at Franklin Heights Baptist Church.

Her first husband, Graden C. Ingram, a sister, two brothers and a great-grandchild preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Reice S.Gatton, daughters Betty Benson and Nancy Yates, both of Kannapolis; stepdaughter Lona Liosatos, Virginia Beach, Va., Martha Shannon, Cape May, N.J., and Gail Mase, Louisville, Ky.; sons George W. Ingram, Kannapolis, and Bobby Teague, Hickory; stepson Reice S. Gatton Jr., Virginia Beach, Va.; sisters Ruby Fox and Marie Sipe, both of Taylorsville; seven grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Franklin Heights Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Tim Jernigan. Burial, Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation: 9-10:30 a.m. Monday, Lady’s Funeral Home.

Mary McDaniel

CHINAGROVE — Mary Cordelia Ritchie McDaniel, 86, 125 McDaniel Lane, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation.

Born Sept. 25, 1913, in Rowan County, Mrs.McDaniel was the daughter of the late William Vance and Lillie Duckworth Ritchie. Educated in Rowan County Schools, she was a retired winder at China Grove Cotton Mill. She was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and a member of the Hattie Sechler Circle.

Her husband, Clarence Albert McDaniel, died in May 1988. A son, Eugene McDaniel, died Feb. 6, 2000.

She is survived by son Nelson McDaniel, Salisbury; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, conducted by the Rev. William Campbell. Burial, Greenlawn Cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Linn Honeycutt Funeral Home, China Grove.

Blanche Ritchie

Blanche Lingle Ritchie, 83, of Salisbury, died Friday (April 21, 2000) at Autumn Care of Salisbury after a serious illness.

Born Dec. 23, 1916, in Rowan County, Mrs. Lingle was a daughter of the late John A. and Mary Lyerly Lingle.

Mrs. Lingle was a 1936 graduate of Granite QuarryHigh School. She retired from Cannon Mills after 35 years. She was a member of Christiana Lutheran Church and the Jennie Thomas Bible Class.

Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie established scholarships at Christiana Lutheran Church and at Catawba College.

She is survived by her husband, Hubert A. Ritchie, whom she married Nov. 11, 1939; brother Hoover Lingle, Granite Quarry; sisters Edith L. Hampton, Salisbury, Ruth Bernhardt, Granite Quarry, and Hazel Canup, Salisbury.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Christiana Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl Haynes, pastor. Burial, Christiana Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation: 7-9 tonight, Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell.
