FORT MILL, S.C. Pfeiffers
mens golf team set a one-day record low score twice while winning the
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference championship here Monday and Tuesday.Coach Dave Davis Falcons followed Mondays record-setting
288 with a 286 on Tuesday. That gave the Falcons a CVAC record 54-hole total of 872 and a
record for margin of victory, 46 strokes.
Pfeiffer claimed the top four individual spots, and all
five falcons finished in the top 10.
Senior Stuart Tatters proved he is all the way back from
January elbow surgery, taking medalist honors with a 73-71-70214 total, 2 over par.
His 214 shattered the previous tournament record by eight strokes. Tatters birdied four of
five holes, starting with the par-5 No. 3 hole after making a double bogey on the first
hole.
Sophomore Ben Casey, who has finished first or second five
times this year, also broke the old tournament record with a 76-71-71218 total to
finish second behind Tatters.

finished third and fourth, respectively, with Poulters 70 on Tuesday tying for the
tourneys low round. Two-time defending CVAC champ Peter Astrom was ninth at 228.
It was an incredible tournament for our team,
said Davis. Regent Park is a very difficult golf course that requires patience and
the ability to hit all the shots. People do not understand that it is very rare that
anyone breaks 300 on this golf course, and these guys did it all three days, and in
convincing fashion. This is the type of golf we will need to play to win the national
championship.
Tatters earned CVAC Player of the Year honors, and Poulter
received the Freshman of the Year award. Davis was named Coach of the Year. The Falcons,
ranked No. 1 in District 3 North and No. 11 nationally, will compete in the NCAA Regional
